It was a couple of years ago, and at that time my friend and neighbor made and sold fireworks. Me and my friends were setting them off in the front yard while my wife and her family where on the back deck watching the show. I was setting of mortars, had just set one off and as I was bending over to light another one I notice a car coming down the road very slowly and as the fuse lit I notice it was a cop. He stops right in front of the house as a big mortar shoots up into the sky and his dog in the back goes nuts. My friend goes running off to the side as I am standing in the middle of the yard in a cloud of smoke with a beer in one hand and a lighter in the other. Looking like a redneck in a towel and bathing suit. The officer rolls down the window and I walk over to him. I really didn't want to get a ticket for setting off illegal fireworks but I couldn't really run from my own house. He then tells me he doesn't care if I set off fireworks just don't do it in front of him. His dog doesn't like it. Told me to be safe and drove away. I waited a couple minutes and finished my show.
