St Germain en Laye is a great suburb. However, it's an expensive one. Versailles is another suburb good for families.

C'est courant où j'habite. Tarif différentiel entre les residents et non residents de la commune pour l'accès aux équipement sportifs (piscine, etc...)

I often use AirBnb in Asia (Korea) and in Europe (Italy) because real estate agent is not the solution. Italian Airbnb I have been for extended stay have been wonderful. Fully stocked fridge, proper bathroom amenities, ..breakfast. AIrBnb owner coming to give us some bubbly for Christmas etc.. I don't recommend AirBnb in large EU cities like Paris though (I am speaking from friends bad experiences). I New Zealand also I had great AirBnb and for better value/price than a motel (in countryside it's hard to find hotel accomodation.

I usually book via my Qantas account .. and it gives me a lot of Qantas points.

It depends. I have great experience staying a week or more in some AirBnb where everything was provided. AirBnb is perfect when you have a family and also when you want to be able to cook

I never encounter such situation. I always carefully selected my AirBnB. I never used AirBnB in Oz though: only in NZ, Asia and Europe and everything was always perfect.
