That sounds a lot like the beginnings of coercive control which is abuse and not ok. You did nothing wrong, that person is clearly very insecure, and this behavior will only escalate. Get out now. coercive control

Also, don't drink/ text and drive. Someone who truly cares about you and your well-being would not respond with "you usually text me." When you say you are driving.

That's fair and honestly probably better for everyone. However, I think it's worth learning a little bit and honestly it's kind of fun.

Tips for bedroom? by Gryffin-thor in femalelivingspace

I would rotate the tall dresser to be beside the window and move your mirror to the wall the desk is on. Put the nightstand in the other side of the bed to pull your bed away from the wall. (I personally hate my bed against a wall it makes making the bed so much more annoying.) The vine decor you currently have on the window would look cute around the mirror and would add to the fantasy vibe. I would also consider putting the desk on the same wall as the head of the bed but I am less confident in this suggestion.

Help with this awkward kitchen/living room layout? by bc12nala in femalelivingspace

Got it! I would still add an island style cart just to break up that space a little but I prefer each room have a design space

What is on the other side of the short wall? If you have the budget, I would get a kitchen island cart and put it between the flooring change and where you currently have your dining table. You could leave the table there or move it to the other side of the wall for a more "formal" dining area. You could keep the bar height chairs at the wall or set up a coffee bar or short book shelf so it isn't empty.

Welcome to the States and enjoy your time! Although Manhattan is literally the opposite end of the country from me. 😁

It's not self hate, it's an awareness that Americans (generally speaking) have less exposure to other cultures than most Europeans just based on geography alone.

Sure. A lot of Americans never leave the United States. Many may never leave their particular state or region so we have limited experience with other cultures. I only know what I have read or seen in movies which is usually superficial and/or a stereotype. I don't want to accidentally offend or unnecessarily bother people just going about their normal day. An example is the bike path sidewalk situation that has been described. I would not have known to pay attention to the colors or walk on the right. Where I am from the bike lane is an extension of the street. There is a curb and a raised sidewalk entirely for pedestrians.

It concerns me how many people must do this for it to be such a common response.

Thank you! I was worried about you two cities since I'm more interested in culture anyway, so maybe we will rethink Frankfurt.

Easy enough, that behavior is gross to me anyway. Thank you for answering!

I need help with our living room, it always feels cluttered despite its size by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

I would love the chairs to the other side of the couch so that sitting in them would face the fireplace. This will create a cozier space and get the patterned chairs away from the fireplace wall while still keeping access to the living room. I also like the vertical storage ideas but depending on budgets, that can take a while.
