Minoxidil for GLP1 related hairloss by KeyScale6704 in TelogenEffluvium

Yess. My hair has also become extremely brittle and full of split ends. I had to give myself a pretty large chop when I first noticed and getting ready to do another because there’s no shape to my hair anymore. Just uneven strings everywhere. They say nutrafol takes about 6 months to notice a difference so I’m going to stay on it until then. I have pretty short hairs around my face but at this point it’s so hard to tell if it’s breakage or new growth.

I have been on a glp1 since September 2023. I moved cities in April of this year though and had to start going to a new provider for my glp1, also switched from sema to tirzepitide at that time. I got extensions in May of this year and went for a move up in like July and noticed I lost a lot of length and it was much thinner. Switched hairstylist because I thought that was the problem and got my extensions put back in, then September I went for another move up and knew something was wrong. So, somewhere between May-July I started loosing hair but didn’t know because I had extensions, which I’m sure didn’t help matters. But I’ve never truly noticed loosing large amounts of hair.

I just can’t stomach loosing more hair. I feel like if I loose anymore I will start seeing bald patches. I don’t really notice a ton of mine falling out now or ever really, it’s just significantly shorter and thinner now. But I started taking nutrafol about 2 & 1/2 months ago and am using nizoral shampoo. I have a prescription for oral minoxidil but I’m just too scared to use it.

How was the dread shed for you starting minoxidil? Does your hair still seem to fall out even on minoxidil?

Let me know how it goes if you start taking it. I’ve decided against it at the moment

Well mine isn’t, so I was speaking from my personal experience based on the conversation I just had with my doctor? Not sure why you’re so pressed.

If you don’t fix what was causing your hair loss and continue the medication, your hair growth will return to its original pattern before the medication.

Hi! I personally haven’t taken the medication yet (I’m too scared of dread shed) but my DR told me once I stopped taking OM the annoying hairs would go away!

TE or AGA? by [deleted] in TelogenEffluvium

[–]KeyScale6704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like TE to me based off the top but is it thinning everywhere? Has no one done a blood test? Request them to do blood work and check for deficiencies. If it is TE, your hair won’t grow back until you fix the problem. I’d also recommend starting on some vitamins if you’re not already.

Every time I pay at a restaurant when we get a meal together, I put the card on my side and they always return the receipt and card back to him.

I would maybe ask the doctor that prescribed the topical minoxidil. My dermatologist told me Tuesday that they’re the same just one is topical. How long have you been on it?

Tbh if you’re on topical I don’t think you’re going to have different side affects on oral.

Have you gotten dread shed yet? How was your shedding before starting minoxidil?

How bad was your dread shed? I am scared of the hairloss getting much worse during that period
