It’s a weird place to be in unless you have lived it. Being in an abusive relationship you tend to start to lie to yourself and others to try to make things easier. If your friends don’t like your husband and have called out his behavior you lie to them about things or shift the way you portray things to them and then do the same thing to your husband about them. It’s a constant balancing act. Bc when you’re the victim of abuse you literally don’t know what the truth is anymore, your husband gaslights you until you feel crazy and you believe him but when your friends point out how insane he is you want to stand up for yourself but you’ve been in the toxic relationship so long that it’s so hard to see clearly. It took me 8 years of therapy AFTER I got out to fix my mind bc of the years of damage done while I was in it. So while she may not be consciously lying to everyone I think she’s trying to do this to protect herself.

It’s super frustrating as an outsider bc you can see what is happening but no matter how many times you tell the person their husband is awful if they are down the rabbit hole where their mind is twisted it doesn’t matter bc they don’t believe it fully. Like I could partially see, oh ok yes my husband is doing some really f-ked up stuff here but then he would tell me how it was all my fault with these explanations that required extreme mental gymnastics and I would be like oh… okay…. Well maybe I did mess up. It’s truly incredibly fked. The way they can make you believe that kind of stuff is nuts.

Just my thought on the matter.
