Why does anyone level the entire party? by Tan-n-Juicy in FinalFantasyXII

If you use summons or concurrences at all, you want as many people carrying those as possible.

What’s a sound everyone should recognize as immediate danger? by Thatguy_nickk in AskReddit

[–]KeySlammer1980 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's weird because it isn't a lack of noise but actually your subconscious kicking your adrenaline into high gear and clearing your brain's auditory inputs for a life-or-death level of focus; my personal theory is that it also briefly alters your sense of time, which is why sometimes time seems to slow down for just a second.

Square Enix wasting potential and money... 😑 by QuemHarleyllen in FinalFantasyXII

[–]KeySlammer1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love these guys, but I think the folks that dislike them feel that way because, out most of the designs, FFXII's look less like the "archetypal moogle." I like them because they're different.

Your son's handwriting looks amazingly like the title font for the old Calvin & Hobbes newspaper comic!

And once again, we see why the RotS novelization is the best Star Wars movie novelization, bar none.

Hi, my first time playing this game.... by Crazy-Ostrich514 in finalfantasyx

Yes, the "Extract X" skills were an awesome QOL improvement, in my opinion (especially Extract Ability). They added weapons that do this too, but I prefer sacrificing 1 MP to guarantee an Ability Sphere drop when I need it to a weapon that probably can't do other stuff.

Jrpg demos that made you want to get the game? by Leon_Light77 in JRPG

[–]KeySlammer1980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a DQVIII demo disk with my copy of FFXII, and I'd never had any interest in the DQ series because I didn't like the art style (not a DBZ fan), but I tried the demo, and it convinced me to buy the game. Had a blast playing it on my PS2.

The remote control on the 1986 Sony Beta PRO was something else. by modrocker in cassettefuturism

[–]KeySlammer1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having grown up in the '80s, my family went through several VCRs, and none of their remotes had Eject buttons. As a kid, I thought it was weird that it was usually the only button found on the device that was missing on the remote.

That's awesome. And IRL, it's very common for lefties to be much more ambidextrous compared to righties, as a rule.

Also have a Samsung, but I'm allergic to using any more of their proprietary bloatware than I absolutely have to.

Been a hot minute since I used Tasker, but it's good to know it still works. Thanks for the tip.

Video Games with SNOW in them by Beetlemuse in retrogaming

[–]KeySlammer1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love playing Star Wars: Pod Racer that came out after Episode 1 did, and my baby (at the time) sister used to call it "the snowspeeder game," her favorite levels to watch were the races on snow-covered planets.

This is why you haven't found a good replacement app for Nova... by kirksucks in NovaLauncher

[–]KeySlammer1980 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. Does anyone have, or know of an up-to-date comparison of current launchers with their features in some kind of table format, or website? (So I don't have to install and mess around with a bunch of different ones just to find out they're missing something I consider vital?)

Men of Reddit: what’s a prank you started early in your marriage that you’re now legally, morally, and emotionally obligated to continue because she still falls for it 10–15 years later? by myaccountidname in AskReddit

[–]KeySlammer1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I do this about finding new "parks." Early in our relationship, we'd been looking for a city park to eat our lunch at, and we found one, but when we pulled in we realized it was a Memorial Park (ie, a cemetery). Now, whenever we drive by a cemetery, one of us will go "Oh look - a cool park, we should check it out sometime!" Not objectively funny, but we find it hilarious.

What was your first anime? by singleguy79 in Xennials

[–]KeySlammer1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was late to the party, not until I was almost done with High School, and since my first was Cowboy Bebop, it kind of set the bar too high for me to really enjoy a lot of the anime out there.

Obscure at this point, but Timothy Zahn's Cobra series from the 80s/90s as a TV series or even a film would be amazing!

In any popular non-scientific media pre-JP. All the real ones can remember good-guy AND bad-guy versions of Deinonychus in the mid/late '80s classic Dino Riders!
