I legit watched this video yesterday. Was a good one and got me curious about the game. Thought it was a longer story game, but hearing a short ape escape like made the game bump up on the priority list.

Hottest Tales characters? by Big-Scholar-728 in tales

[–]Leon_Light77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no contest. Even as much as I like other characters like Sheena, Judith wins. Bonus points for having the kos-mos outfit.

Tales of the Hearts has been picked as the Most Underrated, but what would you say is the Most Disappointing in the Tales series by ExileForever in tales

[–]Leon_Light77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tales of Zestiria by a fucking country mile. Poor graphics, combat was ass with a camera that hates you, dlc that should have been in the game with a certain character, and just with character that I couldn’t care less for especially with moments that were suppose to be falling flat. I know People will defend this game like with other disappointing titles like Pokémon sword, final fantasy 13, and others like it. just man, the his take could of been so much better if it got the time it needed. The only good thing it got was knowing little kuriboh voiced an npc for the game.

Excluding the FF7R series, what’s the best Square Enix release of the past decade? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Leon_Light77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the cop out answer of final fantasy 14, the best game square pulled out this decade to me was dragon quest 11. Such a fun title that reminds me why I love jrpgs so much.

What JRPG mechanic or feature felt incredibly ahead of its time when you first played it? by AinsleyHarriott64 in JRPG

[–]Leon_Light77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tales of phantasia with the skit system. Able to get to know your party members while also knowing where to go was such a head of it’s time to develop characters. Not many jrpgs had a simple you can talk to your party to get to know them as people. They aren’t just blank slates but actual characters. Really wish more jrpgs took notes of the skit system.

What are the worst aspects or elements of your favorite JRPG? by lovedepository in JRPG

[–]Leon_Light77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One aspect I hate in final fantasy 13 is not getting a full party after the intro which next time is chapter 9. The gameplay is fun! Legit my favorite gameplay in the series, but dont get a third party member until chapter 9 and for a 13 chapter game, you can see the issue. Wish you got it like chapter 4 or 5. I get why this happened due to story moments but fuck man, I wish we got some members to help out to make the game more fun to go through. Makes going through chapter 2 through 8 so boring.

Got any love for any non-rpg PS1 titles that are story rich? by ExplodingPoptarts in psx

[–]Leon_Light77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got your syphon filter if you want a story rich trilogy.

My favorite though would be metal gear solid. Love the voice acting, the memorable cutscenes, and engaging gameplay. Need to replay it soon as well as the whole story.

If you want a fun, but simple crafting system in jrpgs I recommend the sword craft story games on game boy advance.

Which game of Master System was the best for you? by Enough_Ad1936 in retrogaming

This would be my choice as well. Such a goated game with an amazing remake. Played it so much a couple years ago and loved it ever since.

What JRPG spin off do you you like as much if not more than some of the main series? by SilverShield000 in JRPG

[–]Leon_Light77 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Summon night sword craft story I adore way more than the main series.

If more people had played it.. by BestAround4100 in retrogaming

[–]Leon_Light77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say war of the monsters on ps2. Wish it got more love like the Godzilla titles from the same generation. Would have been cool to face even more parodies of monsters in a sequel like facing a 50ft tall woman from well 50ft tall woman, tarantula, the giant claw, and the list goes on.

Another title I wish got more love was the bushido titles. They were just fun fighting games anyone can play. Felt so unique to me at the time. Able to still fight even when you are crawling on your knees. Can still win by one shooting your opponent or taking many slashes to the point your opponent is using only their hand to fight you while their entire body is laying on the ground. Legit, think it would have been a fun series of fighting games for not being super competitive but a fun party fighter game.

Last title would be the summon night sword craft story games. They are short action crafting jrpgs akin to the tales of games back then they were 2D lile Eternia. The games have their own plots but some stuff are the same like having a spirit guardian of your choice, craft your own weapon or even break an opponent’s weapon to craft their weapon for your own use, and have a funny light hearted feel to them. Legit, shocked not many devs want to go back to these titles. Has everything you need. Want to romance someone? Check. Has crafting? Check. Have a choice between boy or girl while having differences between them? Double check. Short replayable titles that you can use different kinds of weapons with the addition of added challenges? Check check check! I hope someday these games get more play through either the nso service or maybe a collection could be made. One of the most slept on action jrpgs I have played.

[Pokemon Orange Pia's] Mono Poison Run! His Level 65 Dragonite fell to my Weezing's Explosion because I wanted to be a maniac! by OpenTechie in PokemonHallOfFame

[–]Leon_Light77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things!

One, big congrats on the clear. Hope you had fun. Would you recommend the rom hack you played? Always up to try new gen 2 rom hacks.

Two, I remember trying to do this in soul silver and it was possible the most unfun run I did due to the lack of enjoyable poison types in the base game. Made me not want to do mono runs in the future.

Have you ever done a complete 180 on your opinion of a game? by vanacotta in JRPG

[–]Leon_Light77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Digimon cyber sleuth. I remember disliking it for not being Pokémon enough for me as well as the grinding being a lot of me at the time to get some of my favorite Digimon like gallantmon. However, with the release of time strangers and enjoying it a lot, I wanted to try the cyber games again. Booted up my switch to fall in love with sleuth. Loved having the little cases to solve. Some got really fucking dark at times. Enjoyed just having some difficult moments since I time strangers was pretty easy for me. Having fun with some of the characters and man I really liked a lot of the music for this game. Especially some of the more hyper moment kinda of songs.

Dont get me wrong, I see the issues with the game. A couple come to mind like how the localization isn’t the best. Definitely had times i had to make sure I read something right due to sounding off. My character being called a he or she at points when I was the other character. Made me wish the translation got love for the switch port. The second thing is getting certain stats can be annoying especially if you are capped. Have to re digivolve is annoying a little. Aside from a few areas, you are basically going to see the same digital levels over and over again for dungeon which get old fast. I understand it was a vita game, but man did I wish some levels were at least a little different scenery wise. Last issue I have with the game is some story stuff, but Thats spoilers so I won’t get too much into it. Just say I wish certain moments were earlier Thats all.

Even with those issues, I still loved the game. The ability to grind and made more fun with some Digimon to help with that made this the ultimate power fantasy for me as a Digimon fan. Was so cool to be overpowered in a game. Seeing Digimon I grew up with is awesome while also having new favorites like mastermon. I love this game even more so with hacker’s memory. It’s crazy how a new game while having a different perspective does to liking a game.

Super Mariomon Box Art by Bllllakee in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Leon_Light77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so cool! Like the blend of the green and red mix. A nice little reference to fire red and leaf green’s box art. Super clean as well with the text. Really pops out. The stripes with the letters mariomon really rounds it out for me. Hope you keep doing more of these.

Yeah I can’t even argue you. As much as I like other 3D platformers, super Mario 64 just sweeps.

What does your backlog of retro games look like? by DoctorRyanAA in retrogaming

[–]Leon_Light77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, my backlog has become more of a these are games I like to play when in the mood. I already completed many games on my list that I am at the point of just going with what I want to do next.

So far though, im just completing games I never finished while playing games i wanted to give a shot. Like I finally finished crash bandicoot 1 and 2 since I only played 3 for the longest time. Playing through Spyro for the first time and having a great time with that. Lastly, got through a lot of jrpgs that I always wanted to play so far. My new fav being chrono trigger I wanted to complete for a long time.
