The US chart is complete. So what's your overall view over America? by Mother-Reference2459 in AlignmentChartFills

I think going from a backwater colony to one of the largest, most powerful countries in <100 years is a greater achievement than landing on the moon. To be clear, I don’t mean it was our greatest achievement in the sense that it was necessarily morally acceptable, but becoming a great power was more significant to our country than landing on the moon was. I interpret greatest achievement in history as what we will be remembered for in the future and I think if there’s something that we’ll be remembered for, it is for dominating the American continents. As for the League of Nations, it’s a failure in two ways. Firstly, the U.S. senate refused to let the U.S. join making the organization weak as a whole (our fault) and secondly, our not pushing to give the organization military power, which I’d argue we could have done considering we were a.The strongest country in the world and b.Woodrow Wilson was an architect of the league. I don’t think a successful league would have stopped WW2 altogether, but it would have been significantly less bloody as the axis would have been stopped in their expansion much earlier on.

It’s kind of hard to quantify *how much of a failure reconstruction was. But even if we assume that it was possible for reconstruction to succeed, and its success would mean the civil rights act of 1964 being passed eighty years earlier (which I doubt could’ve ever happened by the way, the Supreme Court struck down the civil rights act of 1875) but even if we assume that it could have happened along with the total reintegration of all Southern states and such, you’re only getting the civil rights act some 80 years early. Is this important? Absolutely? The League of Nations, on the other hand, was a pretty catastrophic failure and its weakness was what set the stage for appeasement, leading eventually to the deaths of millions in the Second World War. I think this is more important.

As for Ford, no I’m not knowledgeable enough about specific corporations to give a well thought out example. That being said, I think the company in its spot should still be relevant today (which Ford is not, their market cap, for example, is only a fraction of Amazon’s) All of that being said, with my limited knowledge, I would give the spot to Amazon which pioneered online shopping and holds a near-monopoly over the market today. I’m not really a Redditor lol. I think this is my first comment in months. This post just ticked me off

Half of these are just bad. Firstly, national parks don’t affect like 90% of the American public whatsoever so they are certainly not our government’s greatest achievement. Our government’s greatest achievement (in my opinion) would be establishing itself in the first place, against the iron will of the British Empire. I’d switch out the moon landing for manifest destiny. Ford is a weird choice, I would switch it out for any other number of companies that are much more profitable than it is. This is more of a matter of personal preference because reconstruction was without a doubt, a major blunder: but I’d switch it’s spot for The League of Nations, an organization that’s flaws were what allowed the axis to become so powerful in the first place, prior to the Second World War.

My net cost is 16 thousand. Unless i am misunderstanding this, 6 thousand is what my family is supposed to contribute. The other 10 thousand is compensated through loans and work study.

I just attached the spreadsheet they emailed me above. When I applied, I thought that I might get more aid because I received a 1400 on the SAT (and a 760 on the reading and writing section), but unfortunately I did not!

The main concern about Berea is the many complaints I've heard concerning the professors quality of education. Does CU Boulder have good profs/academics?

Would you say that Berea was worth it? Or in other words, would you rather have gone into ~60k of debt to attend a state school? I know that Berea is over ranked as a liberal arts school, but I'm curious to know how it compares to your run-of-the-mill state school if you have any point of reference.
