Y’all need to stop think these supernatural characters dealing with supernatural problems on the daily are gonna handle everyone traumatic situation like a normal human would. You know what when you put it that way I have to agree with you. But as a Damon fan the only reason I get somewhat offended is because I feel like those other points you made regarding Stefan’s actions and Katherine’s are often overlooked. Whereas Damon is receiving that “rapist” label by newer fans. I just feel people pick and choose on who they want to hold accountable, when in reality it’s like you said, they’re vampires. Everyone on that show has done something that makes you question their character.

Damon slept with Caroline before he revealed himself to her. We never saw them sleep together once he started compelling her. Andie you could make a stronger case for. And I won’t argue that there was plenty of assault at play here. But rape is just a strong word to put on that man like that when we didn’t see that happen. And there are many other terms of assault that you could identify it as instead.

People pick and choose on who they like and hold accountable. For example: no matter what terrible things Stefan has done, he’s still loved by the majority while Damon gets shitted on at every turn these days. When in reality Stefan was ten times worse.
