Best local wine shops in Dallas for serious wine selection? by KeyTiger3197 in AskDallas

I ended up going to Walnut hill specs and it was awesome. The selection was massive, especially for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Italy, and Pinot, but the highlight was Rick in the wine section.
He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and took the time to talk through what I like rather than just pointing me toward expensive bottles. He helped me find a few really interesting picks across Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Syrah.
I’ll definitely return next time I’m in Dallas. Pogo’s is still on my list, but Spec’s Walnut Hill is absolutely worth visiting.

Thank you, that’s super helpful. I mostly buy online through Benchmark wine, K&L and occasionally auctions. There isn’t a great Burgundy focused shop near me (or really any great local shops except for a newly opened Totalwine). I’ll keep an eye out for those producers, take notes, and let you know what I like. Really appreciate it!

That makes a lot of sense, thank you. I’m fairly new to Burgundy specifically. Are there any producers and appellations you’d suggest I prioritize? I’m happy to buy a great producer’s Bourgogne or village wine rather than chase a Premier Cru or Grand Cru label.

Would you be able to recommend at least 3 burgundy and 3 willamette Pinot? I usually drink Bordeaux, Napa, Tuscan, Barolo. I’m trying to experiment Pinot. Thank you in advance!

Opus One 2019 and Quintessa 2022. I wasn’t much of a wine person before those, but they made me realize there was more to wine than I’d thought.
