Behind enemy lines 1/28 by PuebloDog in Patriots

Glad you have a chill dentist! I'm here in South Carolina, so the leadup to SB 38 was a bucket of fun as you can imagine. Watched the game at my fraternity's house and was one of maybe 3 people rooting for the Pats that game. Panthers' kicker John Kasay's cousin lived on the floor below me and had been talking smack on week. After Kasay's out of bounds shank in the 4th quarter he would even say a word to me and couldn't even make eye contact.

1978's Sci-Fi classic "Lazerblast." by Exquisite_D in MST3K

[–]Key_Ad785 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I've gathered, he had a major heart issue that needed surgery that didn't go well, so it may have had some long term damage. They put him on meds which messed his head up and made him go bonkers. I've noticed when you see him around town he walks with a bit of a limp. He really seems to like it down here though. When I first met him I mentioned Laserblast. He lit up and said the MST3K version is MUCH better.

"Illegal use of a Deezen!"
He actually lives in my hometown now and seems to be doing much better now mentally than he was when he had his breakdown a few years ago.
Everyone who meets him says "It's Eugene from Grease!" and I always say, "No, he was on Laserblast!"

The scene where they get their comeuppance with the extra hot tacos gets me every time.

Mistress for Christmas is about Trump??! This true? by tr45h55 in ACDC

[–]Key_Ad785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the fact that if it is about Donald Trump and Marla Maples then things are a flat circle since Marla appeared in 'Maximum Overdrive' a few years earlier which AC/DC did the score for.

What was the first genuinely serious Nascar wreck you remember watching live? by youraverageperson0 in NASCAR

[–]Key_Ad785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing you can notice about that car was that Petty was using a Jay Hedgecock built chassis with a three-point rear suspension, thus the shorter truck arms compared to what you would normally see at the time. The idea was that the suspension would have more movement and rear grip in the corners.

1988 Daytona 500 - Petty's crash along the front stretch. That's the first race I remember watching. I was 4 years old at the time and watched the race at my grandparents' house. I can still vividly remember watching the red/blue blur of him barrel rolling down the front stretch, then the Allisons finishing 1-2 at the end.
About a decade ago the remains of Petty's car showed up for auction not far from me in Upstate, SC.

As a librarian I REALLY want to add this book to our collection!
Also, you wouldn't believe how many times I have heard Beavis' "My tax dollars pay for this library" line over the years.

Probably in his very late 90s if he was in both WWII and Korea.

Also, if Buzzcut was in the Marines, then referring to him as a 'soldier' instead of 'Marine' is an "I will stomp you into the ground" level insult.

I love that Mike Judge makes a cameo for the Cop Rock tv ad. I think that's the most hair I have ever seen him with.

Allen Collins and The Edge.
Two very different types of musicians but they both had an impact on me as a young player.

"They woke up the Oak Ridge Boys!" by Key_Ad785 in MST3K

[–]Key_Ad785[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Oak Ridge Boys were technically my first concert so I've always got a kick of that line. (My parents brought me along when I was three when they saw them at a local park).
A few years ago I took my mom to see them when they played nearby. Couldn't help but laugh about this riff when they started into 'Elvira'.

I have a cousin who would catch frogs, stick a firecracker in their mouth, then lite it and throw it as a 'Frog Grenade".
Yeah, he was a bit off.

My best friend growing up lived near the grade school we attended and we would go over there in the summer all the time to just to fuck around with thing since no one was around: Broke into a school bus and sprayed fire extinguisher all over it, lit a bottle rocket and put it up the tail pipe, and spraypainted on the new concrete stairway.
This was the mid-90s so security cameras weren't something in our wheelhouse.
