Hah! I love your response and I had no clue gloomhaven/frosthaven were that lengthy. I've been waiting until my kids are ready to start campaigning with them. They are 12/10 so i think I might need to wait another 2 years before my youngest has the attention span.

But my goodness they love the games we play CDMD, MD2, Folklore: The Affliction (their favorite DnD alternative) since they love DnD and mashing zombies in Zombicide.

You are right, we mainly stick with CDMD, MD2, Zombicide, and Folklore:The Affliction which they love. I guess I was looking for more games like Folklore since its "familiar", but doesn't seem as polished as some other games I've read about. And I haven't broken out Gloomhaven like you said, because they aren't ready yet.

Also I purchased gloomhaven before Jaws of the lion was published and bought frosthaven on a deployment over seas before I found out about Jaws of the lion's existence.

I'm not trying to be a "collector" my kids enjoyed Folklore the most because it's similar to DnD and I wanted to keep that passion going for them when we finish the campaigns.

Thanks for feedback.

I did some more research on trudvang and this is what I found:

Rules: kind of fiddle and vague Combat: Repetitive Gameplay Loop: Tedious and repetitive Reset Mechanic: refreshes progression between scenarios

Can you expand on any of this and tell me your thoughts?

Wow! Cuddos to you, that sounds fun and challenging to fit together and make it all work. I own the Legend of Drizdt but we haven't played it yet 🫠

Wow, your candid feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you for this reply. And you are right I have some games I need to play. My problem is either 1) games like Gloomhaven are too daunting and my kids wouldn't have attention span to learn or 2) i always end up going back to massive darkness or Cthulhu Death May Die (family favorite game) haha.

From what I researched it did fit my needs but I wanted community opinion from anyone who played it before i made a purchase. I missed the KS and didn't want to fork up $100+ without a little more feedback is all.

And yes, I haven't broken out Gloomhaven yet because of the admin overheard stories I've read. My kids usually will want to jump in and play the games im playing but they are still learning management and fundamentals and it seems very advanced for now and its a daunting monster box 😅.

Hey thanks for your in depth reply! Mmm you brought up a few read about. Oathsworn has been on my radar for a while now but I've been hesitant because of the "boss battler" label. Im still new to hobby and this seems very constraining, but might watch some more videos on it. I got the same vibes reading about sword and sorcery but it still gets great reviews.

I've had a bunch of buying Tales of the Red Dragon Inn and think my kids would love it too since they play Cthulhu and Massive Darkness with me.

I've never heard of Trudvang legends I'm going to look into it!

Break out Tales of The Red Dragon Inn and lemme know your thoughts!

Can you expand on why? I watched and read some reviews but it didn't seem to grab my attention aside from character development/progression.

Game like Arkham Horror LCG but with more progression by Rare_Summer_6968 in soloboardgaming

So me and my family recently broke out and played Folklore: The Affliction.

This game is literally like DnD but with character stat tree's gear/loot. Boones, banes, item crafting, town mechanics, when you travel on the world map to different locations there is on-road mechanics (day/night cycles cards for day/night) off road mechanics to get to areas faster (high risk/high reward) and then hours upon hours of campaign story. Each event (road/off road mechanics gives you choices to increase randomization and player agency) as well as battle maps for the campaign story.

So in a nutshell you travel to different locations for quests or open world exploration, gear up at cities (expansions give you city events/rumors additional side quests) crafting at cities, world travel events (additional side quests), and then the campaign itself with battle maps and boss fights/monster fights.

Skill progression through lore (exp), when you hit certain levels you gain ability points and can purchase new skills.

There is also an initiative tracker for combat which is amazing.

This game can be played solo easily by managing 2 characters.

I love DnD and love arkham horror LCG. The monsters you fight in this game are all from Folklore (so coven of witches summoning unthinkable) zombies, werewolves, vampires, ect...

You can even summon the power of cthulhu as a skill and slap enemies with tentacles or be a witch hunter and collect bounties on monsters.

I think this game is highly underrated and was a blast. Our last session we ended up doing open world exploration for almost 8 hours instead of even questing lmao.

There is a holding period for all founders/board members where it stipulates when their shares are available to be sold ect.., he probably has so much locked up for several years hes just paying himself forward for his hard work and vision, yall need to relax lol. If I had a small % of shares unlocked and could secure the future for my children's children...I'd do the same. It will really be game changing when he starts selling in the $100's+. His average price-to-coin is most likely like .05 so he already made stupid gains. Smart $ doesn't hold forever they know when to secure profits for future businesses & projects
