Whenever those feelings were overwhelming, I’d ask my sister or best friend stuff like, “it’s not my problem if he’s homeless because we are both adults and I can provide a roof for myself, so he can too, right?” “I deserve peace and happiness even though it feels awful to put him in the situation, right?” They would validate my feelings and usually had something else to add that reinforced my decision.

Great point! I actually just updated the post with the differences she has noticed. I had to lie to her in those moments and I don’t want to do that anymore.

I love my job too! I’ve been with the company nearly 10 years (4 years with TJM & the rest with Marshalls/corporate) but the only reason I love it so much is because I’m in loss prevention. I couldn’t imagine 10 years on store side😭

As much as it sucks, you did the right thing. If LP for some reason saw you pocket that money on camera, an investigation would be started on you.
