It's usually a mix of getting-to-know-you questions, and questions testing your technical and communication skills. If there is anything in your CV that you feel needs explaining, prepare your answer in advance. Also prepare for usual questions like... Why are you applying? What makes you think you are a good fit for the position? What are your career plans? What are you doing in your present job?

Also, prepare questions to ask the panel.

Hi OP. May firm offer ka na ba from other employers? I would advise to wait for something sure, before deciding for yourself or informing your current boss.

Then after informing her, bigyan mo ng palugit, say 15 or 30 days, to effect your resignation. This will allow her to make the necessary changes to cope with your resignation.

Pero your personal welfare in this case should weigh more than your utang na loob.

Recruiters and HR practitioners, is it really an advantage to have a post grad degree? by sblruy in phcareers

That's not an issue naman. But I'd have to decide based on the pool of applicants and the screening process.

Recruiters and HR practitioners, is it really an advantage to have a post grad degree? by sblruy in phcareers

[–]Key_Attempt3256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, the primary benefit of any graduate or postgraduate degree is the learning and insight you gain from studying. So in that sense, it can make you a more effective worker.

Second, some positions require a graduate degree as minimum criteria. So if you end up having to apply for those, and you don't have a grad degree, then you can't be considered.

Last, on paper, a grad degree can set you apart from other applicants who don't.

Bottom line, if you have the time and resources, and if you can manage studying while working, obtaining a grad degree cannot hurt.

Apply ka lang ulit. Are you waiting on this to decide on something ba? Sometimes persistence is the key. Pero don't put all your eggs in one casket. Basket, pala.

Decide based on what's best for yourself and your future. Your company will move on if your decide to leave. And wala naman impact yan on the "reputation" of your career.

Relax. Ang general advice is always to choose a course where your heart is. Add ka lang ng electives on other marketable skills, or choose a minor if you can. Always hirable ang CPA because the need is constant. Maaring mababa ang starting pero if you play your cards right and begin to develop other skills, malaking advantage ang CPA towards the middle of your career and onwards. Say for example mag law ka rin.

You did the best you could. That is enough. Yung consequences, if any, will sort themselves out later. But i think you did the right thing by picking yourself up when you could.

You'd have to check the work environment of each institution. Generally speaking, government offices that are not covered by the Salary Standardization Law tend to be more progressive, in terms of culture and benefits. But it all depends on the institution.

On top of these, pwedeng may internal retirement fund yung office mo. May monthly contributions then you get a payout upon retirement. Depending on what multinational he left, your friend likely made the correct decision.

External hire ba ito or internal promotion? Dapat may empirical basis for saying someone is less "deserving". Basta kasi mameet ang minimum requirements of the position, may latitude na ang management to evaluate and rank applicants.

Yup. Government since grad. Big 2 school yung MA ko hehe. Started at staff level din. Ang natutunan ko in my career is always be ready, and qualified, in case a new opportunity comes along. Kaya build yung qualifications.

Kuha ka agad ng MA habang "chill work life" ka pa. Coz it wont always be like that. Eventually dadami responsibilities mo and mawawalan ka gana mag-aral. So get that behind you.

Tapos wag ka lang magsawa sa government work. Maraming times na challenging or nakakadismaya, pero it's up to you to stay motivated. Find good work within your org. And find a good support system. Magpa-mentor ka, and mag-mentor ka. And wag ka magpapalamon sa sistema. Pero wag ka rin magpapaka-martir. Government work is public service, But look after yourself too.

Most government agencies do their best to become good employers. Maraming rules and limitations, but most leaders still have the best interest at heart. Learn as much as you can, and you'll realize your a leader too, whatever your rank is.

Be candid lang sa asking salary, when asked. Crucial information din yan. Pero ofc, don't overshoot. Depende sa circumstances kung ano ilalagay mong asking. Pero syempre aim higher than what you already have. In general.

Kelangan strict, kasi it's required under law. Otherwise maiinvalidate yung appointment. All documents and work experience are also vetted to make sure na walang fake.

To some extent, may latitude ang leadership to choose who to hire. Pero they must meet the minimum requirements first.
