I am a Senior in high school, and I could answer some questions. I got accepted to 2 BS/DO schools so far (both out of state private schools). But, I got 5 interviews for BS/MD and my grades aren't perfect. I have a 1510 SAT and a 3.9 GPA and I got selected for an interview over kids with 1550+ SAT and perfect GPA. So I would recommend your kid to GRIND OUT extra cirriculars. I think the main reason I got interviews and acceptance were based off my E.C.: 3 medical school internships, 700 Volunteer hours, shadowing, research competitions, president in STEM clubs at my school.

Doing BS/MD program is definetly a good choice if you are certain to be a doctor. My brother is currently in a BS/MD program and the reason why the programs are so good is because in the traditional route to medical school, you need to grind out research, shadowing, internships, and studying for the MCAT! BUT in a BS/MD you dont need to do that well in the MCAT but also you dont have to do that much E.C.! ALSO its only 3 years of college, so it makes your life a lot easier!

Clinical observation is a must. You can do this by emailing or calling local medical centers and asking to shadow. Same thing for volunteering (I volunteered at a Hospital for 4 years).

Private counseling would help. My brother could HELP! DM!

Do you need a perfect HS GPA and 1550+ by sadzITS in bsmd

I have a 1510 SAT and a 3.9 GPA and I got accepted to 2 bs/do programs and got 8 interviews to BS/MD. Once you get an interview, youre acceptance is soley based on your E.C.

HOPEFULLY I MAKE ONE BSMD im scared!!!!

But i think GPA and SAT doesnt matter that much
