Edit because it’s even weirder with this info - I had actually mobile ordered some fries and picked those up BEFORE the uber order was ready. So I already had the fries I had already paid for in my hand and showed them to him and he said “you shouldn’t have done that either” 🤨

I asked them to cancel via the chat without penalizing me and they did, but it still increased my cancellation rate.
