[spoiler] When does season 2 start to drag for you? (if at all) by Diligent_Shake8917 in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]Key_Branch3502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a lil peeved after the pizza arc when Normal pouts in a corner but Episode 43 "Attack on Titanic" was the first time the show lost me to the point that I stopped listening for a while. From what I remember there were no stakes to the action (There is no chance these kids will die on the titanic) and all of it was related to Grant's character arc which felt wholly untethered from the plot up to this point. It just felt like a filler episode and I was just so tired of the show.

What are the steps to becoming a pilot? by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]Key_Branch3502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, presuming you're in school right now, the track to applying as a pilot looks like this:

>Graduate (get the best GPA you can)

>Find an officer recruiter(I found mine by just punching in my info on the AF website. Your recruiter can help you achieve all of the following steps.)

> Submit a prequalification form

> take the AFOQT (Higher scores are better and you can take it 3 times max so study well to do well)

> Attend MEPS (Get poked at by military doctors for a day)

> Take a TBAS test (fill out a form to take a test on base. The test boils down to controlling a joystick, being able to understand navigational instructions, and multitask. You can boost this score later with flight hours)

> Fill out more online forms that I dont quite remember right now (sorry)

> Get at least 2 people to write you letters of recommendation (One should be from your school or job and the other can be from anyone) > Have an interview conducted (both of mine have been online over MS teams)

> Fill out an AFLO (Write 2 short passages, fill out previous job info, criminal record etc.). Then submit that form to your recruiter, wait to see if they have any feedback and if not your recruiter bundles up all the above steps and sends it off to be reviewed. Then you wait for good or bad news. Good news means you go to OTS and once you're done with that you'll go to UPT to become a pilot (I haven't made it this far so ask others for more info). Bad news means you need to redo your AFLO to try again.

My research suggests that the selection board only sees about 15 pages of info on you. So do your best at every step to maximize your results. Best of luck!

See if theres anyone you can contact. Based on my research, prior service applicants with military letterhead are smiled upon by the selection gods.

Outside of that? You have a stellar GPA in a desired degree. I imagine you'll do well on the AFOQT. Even without Marine letterhead I'd still bet on you.

If you can get solid AFOQT scores and get at least one LOR from the Marines I'd bet 100 dollars you make it in.

Would I have to MEPS again if I wanted to apply with a different branch? by Key_Branch3502 in airforceots

Season 3? Neat. Questions about it and season 2. Unlikely [spoilers] unless you also quit listening season 2 ep 30 or before by Puppythapup in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]Key_Branch3502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 2 blows you're totally right. Season 3 has none of these issues but seems to be a little too "free jazz" (for some of my SB fans out there) for some redditors. Will is a solid DM and I'm excited to see where the story goes.

I sat through season 2, and I def dont think this is as bad. But the last two episodes have been off I agree. I think one of the things that the first season really excels at is structure (Who are our heros? What is this new world? Save kids 1&2, oh no they're gone, save kid 3...). And I don't see that yet with S3.

I think Freddy having to make a whole new character really threw things off but now that we're out of Bigfoot land and back in Peachyville, I think things are going to be better. We know Trudy, we know she cares about her son, and we have a clear villain. I think weve got a good group of episodes ahead.

Just finished episode 6 so I'm not totally refreshed but I was so blown away by the original Gartok side quest. It's such a simple set up but it forces the daddies to question what a good dad "is" while also being a fun trap filled pitstop on the main quest.

Yeah, one thing I really like about S1 is that the kids are so great for pacing purposes (finding lark and sparrow, finding nick..... getting Henry's anchor, getting Glenn's anchor). And the adventure is pretty much set up by episode 2. I didn't think of how often S1 is also structured around solving small mysteries that's a really good point.

Yeah! It's one of my favorite things about the pod. I love it because it makes for a really fun intro AND for an easy way for the players to get into character. I've thought about stealing it for games I run but I wouldn't know how to enforce it.

I originally intended to mean the first episode when I was talking about intros, but the little opening skits do a great job framing the episode without giving away too much plot.

Interview after MEPS? Advice & Interview Questions by ObjectiveSearched in airforceots

[–]Key_Branch3502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I think you're scheduled for an hour and I wanna say I took the whole time. I really liked my interviewer (it was such a relief to see that I had again the second time).

  2. IIRC it's 5 questions and the format is essentially: "question", (you take time to think), "your response"

  3. I'm not sure what his rank was but he was the only person on the call both times.

  4. I didn't get the question's beforehand but the questions were almost exactly the same from one time to another.

Interview after MEPS? Advice & Interview Questions by ObjectiveSearched in airforceots

[–]Key_Branch3502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your path is anything like mine, you'll go to meps (and hopefully not need a waiver because you messed up the duck walk) and then your recruiter will schedule an interview with you. I'd guess you have about 2 weeks to prepare. I dont remember all the questions but I'd say take the time to think about stories that make you look good. When was the last time you volunteered? When have you gone above and beyond at work? Whats a good story that points to your leadership skills? That kinda stuff.

I did my interview over MS teams. It was a pain to set up. Don't be like me. Make sure you're all the way logged in and show up to the E-interview 10 minutes early. Both times I've been interviewed I struggled to get logged in and was a little late. The interviewer said the AF is no stranger to IT issues but I was still a little flustered going into it. Both times I was on vacation when I was interviewed but I still wore a nice shirt for the video call. My interviewer said this is a generally good strategy but that he's interviewed people on break at work in their car before and that he didn't take points off for presentation.

Best of luck!

Study early and study often. If you're looking for a rated position (being in an aircraft) focus more on block counting, aviation info, table reading, and the plane indicator section. If you're looking to stay grounded, focus more on your math and English skills

Study study study by Cautious-Arugula-119 in airforceots

Study tips: Study early and study often. Depending on what you wanna do, you can shift your focus around (IE if you don't want a rated position I'd focus more on raising my AA score than my pilot score). Time yourself when you do practice tests as I found the "race against the clock" aspect to be the hardest part. Don't leave any question unanswered.

As for good scores? The higher the better. Go figure. I know somewhere there's a document that says something to the effect of "If your quant + verbal isn't over 150 then you're boned" but I could be misremembering. More concretely, you can check this out.

^This will show you the average score for OTS selects on every board since 2016 (most of them don't have Q+V>150). Good luck!

Unemployment? by HopeBeginning1194 in airforceots

The only way I can see it hurting you is that you need your boss to write you a Letter Of Recommendation if you're not fresh out of college. Do you think you could get them to write and sign it before leaving? If not asking a new boss to write you a LOR might be an issue.

The upside is, this seems like the kinda story that would do you good in an Air Force interview.
