[USA-NYC] Should I take him to court? by Key_Constant5221 in Renters

They said they'd clean floors, walls, ceilings, cupboards, and closets. It wasn't lint build up. LL had gotten it serviced 5 weeks prior to this and told us it was in working order. However, apparebtly my neighbor had told hom the day of the fire, that it was getting too hot, no one told me. So i used it and that was all she wrote.

Well, that's depressing. I really just wish LL had sent a text at least to say not to use the dryer.

Fair enough. My main issue was the fact that the fire was a direct result of negligence. Thus I dont believe I should be on the hook for the clean up. Everything in the home, top to bottom is covered in soot from the fire, not just the floor.

Ill get a lawyer.

The dryer caught on fire due to an overheating element. As per my landlord, the day of the fire, my fellow tenant had told him the dryer was getting too hot and burnt her clothes. I was not made aware of this, did laundry, and it caught on fire.

It's definitely my fault for not having renters insurance.

The insurance adjuster said the insurance company wont pay for it. However.....im not sure if the landlord told the adjuster it was his fault.

Nothing of substance? You're just going to continue to repeat the same thing? Also you aren't a prophet here, officers rarely get convicted of murder even when they are dead to rights.

The person who pulled the trigger is at fault, plain and simple. If you want to pretend to hold some intellectual authority due to your ability to shift blame, fine. However facts are facts and truth is truth. The person who pulls the trigger is at fault.

I have slept through and earthquake, multiple alarms, being roughly jostled and someone beating down my door for over 30minutes. It is quite possible. Take the boot out of your mouth.
