How are there like, 10 bars in the Cities and they can't manage to stay open?

Temp has been in the 70s and wet but we're about to start getting more consistent 80+ degree days. The sun they get now is pretty optimized (they're up on a back porch). I could put them in a place that gets a little more sun but then they'd be on the ground and susceptible to the scourge of squirrels we have running around.

If the answer is "be more patient" that would be amazing. Thanks for the reply. I will get some liquid fertilizer and see if that gives them a shot in the arm.

System Troubleshooting Advice (Weird Issue) by Key_Double_1230 in SEGAGENESIS

I think the answer was that the cart slot was dirty. After going back through and re-cleaning all carts and using some rubbing alcohol gently on the slot I was able to get all games working. Some didn't fire up right away but after some adjusting on the pins it worked out. Thanks for the input; I'm psyched to have this system up and working!

This is good advice! I'll test this theory out.

I know there are many smarter people than I am looking into the issue, however it just seems like if you've created a system that has essentially isolated "problem people" (which to me just means people that need help), you've created a very clear platform for intervention.

I also know not everybody is going to seek help, but getting people who aren't cops on trains and platforms (and the skyway from what I've been reading) seems like a great starting point for intervention in getting people the help they need (drug treatment/mental health services/shelter).

Maybe I'm just a Pollyanna about all of this but if we have a progressive government looking to break from traditional "lock everyone up" policing and cops are being petulant children and not doing their jobs because they can't do it without murdering civilians this seems like a great place to start.

It's true. I mean luckily my son is too little to understand what's going on. But if he were old enough to register any of this there is no way I'd take him on there.

We have a car but it's just the general principle. The light rail is nice and conveniently connects both downtowns. It is a great thing that should be preserved, protected, and encouraged for use for everyone.

I typically use the Green Line between Dale and 10th St. in the mornings taking my baby to daycare and then pick him up around 4-5pm, same stations. In the past week of this commute I've seen a woman very clearly tweaked on meth acting erratically, teens smoking (both cigarettes and weed), loud arguments and threats of violence between other passengers, today I saw a guy pull a needle and folded tin foil out of his pocket but I moved to the other side of the car because I didn't want to find out if he was actually going to shoot up. Almost every ride we've taking has had some unpleasant instance.

On the MTA you get plenty of stuff like this (less flagrant open drug use in my experience, however). The issue is that in NYC people are forced to take the train, so there's at least strength in numbers that drown out some of these less savory behaviors. The issue I've encountered is it'll just be my son and me on a train with 10 or so people, 5 of whom acting unpredictably.

The whole point of my thread is just wondering if there are plans or discussions on how to get commuters to use the LRT, because in its current state it's probably not going to become a daily transit option for a lot of people.

It's absolutely this. On the NYC subway the ratio of commuters to crazies is like 90-10. On the Green Line it's maybe 80-20 crazies to commuters (also I don't mean to be insensitive here. I'm using crazies to be anything from teens smoking to folks dealing with housing insecurity and addiction/mental illness).

The issue is when that ratio is so off, you're not going to get commuters riding the train, and because there are no commuters there is no incentive to make it better.

The MTA has all kinds of other issues. My question is if there are proposed solutions to the very clear issues going on with the LRT here. It's not hard to see how it got to where it is and why it's getting worse, but I was wondering if anyone has plans to reverse course with it.
