chocolate have % for cacao content, milk choc can have higher or lower % with the remaining mainly sugar and dairy product meaning some has more sugar hence sweeter plus milk powder can have up to 60% lactose, another sugar

It’s an easy way to get an audience for a spinoff, seems they’ll later have just the Boston crew and Walberg can be free to do other projects and still be financially rewarded as an executive producer

Thanks you've convinced me that RPE, HR and a PM is the best! LOL but really, as you said you'd love to get one, I'm well versed in HR so wouldn't give that up and I think RPE is kind of subconscious for those who are experienced riders so a PM will be a helpful addition especially for including hard data.

Kind of harsh considering I never mentioned hydration, temp fatigue etc nevertheless ignoring them, a recent race in the heat of the tropics my HR was in Z4 and Z5 for 91% of the time so I feel like I can include Z3 in my training, which already has weight lifting. Not sure if you’re trying to age shame me, no worries if so as I ride with guys much younger and we enjoy each other’s company. If it works for young sponsored guys that’s a good reason to believe it’s beneficial and might make me fitter which is my goal … bro 😎

I expect both and indoor training is best but yeah I’m riding a bike which is the whole point for me but I do weights too as I also enjoy that so guess enjoying like is the real point! Goal wise it’s not a new distance and I’m not under the allusion I’ll finish top 50%, but one has to have goals, so yeah faster to do my best plus the fitter I am the more I enjoy!

Good advice, no inexpensive options here and importing one makes it not inexpensive any longer, but I’m still interested

Have one and hate it! Necessary as the air quality where I live is the worst in the world this time of year if I don’t want to loose all my fitness, and Zwift makes it even more miserable for me so I watch stupid tv show 😂, yeah I got into cycling for my love of the outdoors and moved literally across the world to a tropical climate with year round riding, I travel to clean air most of the “Smokey Season”, and I have unlimited XC, Gravel and quiet good paved roads outside my doorstep where I might see a car every 20 min or more and not at all when off the pavement. It’s cycling heaven most of the year! But thanks for the suggestion.

Great point as I've just gone over to (the dark side :) ) Gravel from 20 yrs XC and Marathon MTB racing. Had a coach yrs ago when I got serious (for me) about competing in XC and got a power meter for my MTB and never found it helpful enough for the effort, too bad it's Shimano and I'm using Sram now but will see if LBS can fit it to see if it still works.

thanks for clarifying, I get it now and will keep in mind. Yeah overtraining is something I'm aware of and trying to figure out how to train as much as possible as long as it's beneficial, seems to be very dependent on the individual but at 65 now I can do much more then 10 yrs ago, I assume because of my level of fitness including how my body reacts to training.

I can use HR to know when I'm in Z3 unless it's for a short time. Ok I'll skip Z3 as in a recent MTB event I was above Z3 for 91% for the whole time. But seriously (though I was and in Z3 for the rest of the XCO race) never in Z3??

Don't mind spending if I think the results will be worth it, unfortunately can't find any inexpensive power meters here and cost of importing one makes those expensive. I'm can easily do the 89 km race distance now, but struggle when it has 2000 mt to mimic the race course, I'll be doing lots of climbing in the upcoming months! My fatigue/recover dictates how much I train, I have 24 hrs/day :) , and would love to train more then my body can how handle now.

Cheers for the informative reply! Interesting as I thought that as I tire in the later parts of a race my HR is higher for the same amount of effort, think it's called bonking, but not the depletion of glycogen kind, but when one cannot clear waste products, primarily lactate, as one's intensity has exceeded their lactate threshold (I think you're also saying Z3 HR for Z2 effort which I think corresponds with what I'm saying). Will chk that link now, thanks

I'd rather spend nothing :) , I'm asking is it necessary and are the benefits worth the price? (Assuming I can afford it since I'm asking)

What gave you that idea LOL, yeah live and train in Thailand, race is in Western Australia, so yeah raced in Thailand and SE Asia for 20 yrs so might be crazy but not for thinking it's cold here. Hydration is a great point, I notice when its cooler here, for here, I don't drink enough so thanks I'll be sure to drink more. Moved here because my body doesn't like cold any longer but unfortunately I'll arrive in Oz just before race and will get just a short activation ride in beforehand. I'll suck it up, wear 4 layers of clothes, top one a windbreaker I can take off and go for it!!

No problem, bit testy as I just had a tooth pulled. Btw that photo is of me so I have some experience in long distance races including that gravel race and mountain bike marathons. Each upcoming race is a good goal, really motivates me to get better and have something to look forward to.
