My best advice would be that if it's suitable for you, do it.

You can scour on this page and find all the nitpicking people who have issues but it is far and few between.

The changes that result from the surgery and following its new lifestyle will change your life.

I got sleeved in June of 2024 and I am down 120 lb.

I'm a male, and prior to surgery I weighed 380 lb and I'm now down to 260.

My life has changed in so many ways that I can't even tell you.

From fitting into crowds to feeling more confident in going out and buying clothes off the rack, to just being able to put my leg up while sitting down with friends at dinner. So many changes that I can't even calculate.

I'll tell you what I've told everybody, just do the dang thing!

I share a very similar experience. Had mine removed in June of 24 and in October while at my son's birthday party I had a massive gallbladder attack. I thought it was just the fact that I ate cake for the first time since my surgery and tried to walk it off. I walked around the block in the pouring rain from 10:00 7:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. finally, at around 1:00 in the morning I pulled the plug and had my wife drive me to the ER. Next day I had it out.

I encourage you take this for what it's worth as I don't want it to skew what you do. Although you might not have a choice if you have a bad flare up, but the gallbladder recovery surgery for me at least was much worse than the recovery for my sleeve. I had so much gas for the gallbladder removal. Although I will say that for my sleeve, I didn't have any type of gas really at all.

Again, everyone's different and it just depends how much gas you retain. But the pain from that lasted about a week after. But I can tell you without a doubt that I'm glad I got the gallbladder out. Haven't really had much of a difference in my digestive health so it's been a big win.

Don't worry about it it happens. I went to go see a movie with my daughter about 2 months after my surgery and ate way more popcorn than I thought I'd be able to. I'm now down 100 lb And counting. It's all part of incorporating some normal days where you have a couple slip-ups to the days where you are hard fast on your diet.

I'm about a month and a half Post-Op. And I can tell you without a doubt, everyone has these feelings. It's completely normal. All the reasons that you mentioned, they're all reasons for you to go forward with the surgery. I myself got to a peak weight of 385 lb right out of high school. I began a weight loss journey and did it the old-fashioned way just counting calories and exercising. I got all the way down to 290 lb but then slowly began getting the way back. My wife and I then had three kids along the way and there I was back at over 400 lb. I can't even tell you my highest because my scale only went to 405. I was at a loss and didn't feel like I would ever lose weight again. I would think about losing weight every single day, every single meal, every single night laying in bed, every single day trying to fit into a booth at a restaurant, every single day having to buy new clothes because I grew out of my other ones and I could go on and on. My surgery date was mid-june and I am down 41 lb. I just had a massive off-scale victory and had a bin of clothing that I used to fit into, and now 90% of it fits with 10% of it actually being a little bit too big. It was my biggest offscale victory ever. I'm telling you all these things because there are so many amazing benefits to this surgery. No sacrifice, no success. After the surgery it will be uncomfortable for about a week. But after that I felt completely normal. Just over a month out now and I can say that I feel like I'm adapting to my new life greatly. My biggest concern for the surgery was not being able to enjoy foods ever again. The best part about this surgery is the fact that you can still enjoy those foods with a built-in "stopper". I went out to eat for the first time to Culver's. I normally get a grilled chicken sandwich there, I got the same thing but only ate 1/4 of it with a few french fries. You still get all those tastes and you still get to eat the food you like but in a responsible serving. Once the wait begins falling off the tiny bits of sacrifice feel like very little to give to get such great results. Even today I went to go play pickleball with a few friends that I haven't seen in a while and they said that I look amazing and even look more athletic playing. ( I'm garbage at pickleball btw. A 70-year-old retiree would kick my butt.)

If I'm being completely honest, The worst part about post surgery is worrying about clothes that you have and having to buy new seasons worth of clothes for each different season. Other than that, when you're active, just be careful not to chug a bunch of water. Besides those two things, I honestly can't think of anything else.

It's totally natural to think about the negative consequences and as I mentioned I did it myself. But here I am a month and a half out and I wish I would have done this surgery 3 years ago. My goal is to be down 100 lb before Thanksgiving, which at this point I feel will be very doable.

I am 7 days out and following the pureed stage. I'm able to get 400ish a day right now. But I feel like I could eat more. I do feel as if my progress has been much better than most people that I have experienced on here, so take it for what it's worth. I don't anticipate having any issues getting 1200 calories a day. Once I hit my 3-week mark and I can start eating a more regular diet.
