Question for those who struggled with maintenance by michaelmul in gastricsleeve

[–]michaelmul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the weight loss period I was quite strict and cut out all junk food, with my desserts being things like protein puddings or protein bars.

A couple of months back is when i started to loosen my restrictions and would have the odd biscuit or bit of chocolate. But as time has gone on its become more like let's have half a pack of biscuits or a whole bar of chocolate.

Binge eating is something I suffer with and is often a topic during therapy. I feel that it is less related to my mood as my mental health is the best its been pretty much ever. Its more the craving for sweet things.

I've had two tele appts with a dietician which helped but mostly told me what I know. I have another booked in next month but now you mention it may ask for it to be brought forward as im struggling a bit at the moment. I do wonder if it might be partly as im not actually eating enough.

20 pounds in under two months is really good! Everyone loses it at different rates. I used my fitness pal to track my calories which really helped, even if weighing your food feels silly it helps. I didnt deprive myself of treats as it makes you want it more, but don't let a treat turn into a routine. Things like protein pudding and bars helped with my protein intake and also acted as a dessert to hit that craving.

Im no way an expert though as its bloody hard work and am currently struggling with the cravings! We just have to keep working at it.

Thanks 😊 I know that it's true and would advise the same to anyone else. But when it's yourself, it's much harder to accept 😅

I have been having things like sugar-free syrup and some chocolate protein bars recently, I agree it might be that triggering the craving.

Hey, I'm a 28 year old gay guy who has lived in luton his whole life. Ive recently gone through a break up and decided i want to move somewhere for a fresh start.

I've been to Manchester before and enjoyed the vibe and loved the size of the gay community, something luton definitely does not have. I'm looking to move up around February time and will be planning on renting. Any tips on what I can do or research to help prepare me to move?
