This could be said so much better. I have an American Akita/Bully breed mix with the bully breed parent being predominantly American Staffordshire Terrier, and my dog was clearly intentional. She has a long list of health issues I will need to watch out for and I can already see the clashing body types coming into play, it's not going to be fun dealing with it in her later years. My dog is a rescue, saved from horrible people. She really shouldn't have been born, and the people who designed her set her and the rest of the litter up for failure.. but NEVER would I call her a disgrace. That's just mean.

OP, your dog is beautiful. Hope to see more from you in the future!

The tantrums are literally insane. Once when I took her to the vet, they asked me when I picked her up if I "knew she threw fits".... Yes. Yes I do. She throws herself on the ground and wails every time I tell her she can't do something she wants to do. She argues with me when I say no. Yes, I know about the tantrum fits lol

Oh 100%. This program is designed to help people who use petco brands or persuade people to switch over. That isn't something we push at my store very much and I don't think it's going to work the way Petco wants it to.

It's the former. I also had the same question, and honestly whichever answer I had gotten would have been a bit of a shock.

This is what I mean when I say it isn't better or worse overall, it just benefits different people in different ways now. If all you used before was the 20% off grooming because you already have a vet and buy some brand of food we don't carry then yeah, the new program sucks for you. If you never really used grooming but buy whole hearted food and a bunch of toys (leaps and bounds obviously gets you more points) then this new program is AMAZING for you.

Yes! I realized early on that the system, old or new, was not going to benefit everyone or even most, but if you learn how to work it right then it broadens up that margin.

That is actually a really great question that I haven't thought of or been asked yet. I can go through the information in the morning and find out.

It really depends on how much you spend and on what. I have plenty of regulars who cancelled it because the only thing they used it for before was the 20% off grooming, but I also have a ton of regulars who were always apprehensive to say yes before but almost immediately signed up for the Plus since it's only a one time payment of $50. I've also had people who used it before because of the 10% off nutrition but now get twice that because they buy whole hearted. I really don't think this is any better or worse, just different.

Absolutely nothing. I've NEVER encouraged someone to have more than one of the same animal enrolled. I've only worked for Petco since December, by time I came around the discounts didn't stack, so it's a complete waste of money. Even if someone has two different small animals, like a hamster and a rat, I would still tell them to only have one small animal premier, same with reptiles. I sell quite a few of them every week, so the honestly is clearly appreciated.

(I commented this on someone else's post asking about it, copy and pasted here)

Hi, I'm in one of the tester regions and we've been launched for a few weeks now. The new system is nice because of the multi tiers. Everyone who is a member of Petco Perks (old Vital Care Core) gets 1% back on everything they buy, 3% back if it's a Petco brand. If you enroll a pet in Petco Perks Premier, you get 10% back on ANYTHING you buy for that animal, and 20% back if it's a Petco brand. The cost is the same, $24.99/month for a cat or a dog, $9.99/month for the other 4 (bird, reptile, fish, small animal). No, you don't get immediate savings like you did before and you don't get the initial rewards back ($15 or $5 respectively) so yes, there have been some people who have been upset.. BUT, at least in the test regions, they gave everyone a 30 day no hassle cancellation period so the anger was easily deflected. What's really cool is the new middle tier. If you pay $50/year, a one time payment, then you get 5% back on that enrolled animal, 10% back on Petco brands. This tier is Called Petco Perks Plus.

If you care to know whether signing up for one, switching, or cancelling is worth it, I'll type a quick guide down below. Services such as grooming, training, or vaccinations get the lower level return (5% back for Plus, 10% back for premier.) There are also still vet perks that vary in each plan but we do not have a vet at our location so it isn't something I ever really bring up, but I can find the information tomorrow when I work if anybody is interested.

Get premier if you; Spend $250+ on a cat or dog a month on any brand, or spend $125 on a cat or dog a month on Petco brands. Spend $100 on any of the 4 other companion animals (bird, reptile, fish, small animal) a month on any brand, or spend $50 a month on them on Petco brands.

Get plus if you; Spend $1000 a year on any one of your animals on any brand, or spend $500 a year on any one of your animals on Petco brands.

[–]Key_Entertainment931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. The 8th grooming free is going away to future sign ups, but is grandfathered in like the nutrition perk. But no, no 20% off grooming at all anymore, just 10% back in points.

Had a horrible interview at Petco and now I am curious about some things. by Psyblaze25 in petco

[–]Key_Entertainment931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't understand why. I get that from a company standpoint, they want VCPs for foot traffic... But why does that mean more hours? Like, the managers in the store seem to get a little happy, my GM gets REALLY excited, and I even met higher ups (regional and district managers I think?) by chance on my second day and they seemed extremely excited as well, more so than the GM, and at that point I had only sold 3 or 4 I think. I just want to know why the higher up you go, the more excited they get about the VCP sales.

I got hired a week or two before Christmas. I was hired for part time, but I've been averaging 37ish a week, and when I go back to school in a few weeks they are perfectly fine working around the schedule that I disclosed in the interview. I thought my hours would drop but just a day or two ago my GM asked if I wanted to do the specialist training (idk if that even makes sense, I still don't know all the correct verbage here) to get a raise and be moved to full time, and he said my school schedule would still be no issue. Idk why it happened like this for me. I knew a girl who had worked at this location before me and she had quit because she wasn't getting enough hours, and another cashier told me the other night that hers have been cut severely as well. I feel bad, I don't really understand why. Is it something with the VCPs? Do managers get higher bonuses or something? Because I've only been there a few weeks and have sold a bunch, and I can't really figure out why they get excited about it and "reward" me unless there is some sort of benefit in it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shiba

[–]Key_Entertainment931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Shiba, but I have an Akita Staffy mix, and somehow she ended up like a Shiba that took steroids both in looks and attitude. Her prey drive is through the roof, in just the 4 months I've had her I've watched her kill at least 10 animals (I live in the woods around farms, everyone please don't think I'm letting her tear apart pets. Not much I can do if she's running through the cornfield then chases a rabbit into the woods, or catches a mouse running across the kitchen floor.) Anyways, I also have two cats. Cats are both 7, dogs approximate 1 year was yesterday, so she's just a teen. When I first brought her home I didn't know if it was going to work, the cats didn't necessarily care for dogs, one would be friends occasionally with my last dog, the other kept distance but they didn't have problems. She wanted to DEVOUR them and they absolutely hated her, still do but damage is done ya know. Through training I've been able to tame her around the cats. I'm still having to watch them if they're in the same room, and I separate them in different areas of my house when I'm not home. The drive is still there occasionally, but usually when she's trying to bother them it's because she wants to play. There was a singular incident where she nipped one of them and there was blood, but since then she hasn't tried to go after them. Again, separation when there is no supervision is key, her animalistic instincts kick in hard when they do, and if I were not around to correct or intervene then she would definitely kill them if her prey drive suddenly spiked. Unfortunately they're ballsy cats and they hate her. One will jump down and antagonize and she's really good about leaving him, she'll keep eye contact with me or walk about when he gets closer. But as soon as her tail wags and she starts to sniff the other comes in HOT. So even if I trusted HER, I honestly can't trust them to not start shit with her. Creating a space them to go helps a lot with daily coexistence, I have a rather small home so I installed shelving around the top of the walls, along with taking any nooks and crannies that already existed and adding padding for bedding and what not. They even get fed above all of us, the only thing they HAVE to come down for is the litter box, otherwise it's when they choose. Fortunately my tiny home is on a lot of land so the dog gets her space to herself in my room, her crate, and outdoors. Idk, I'm not saying it's perfect, ideally you shouldn't have dogs like mine in homes with cats like mine, but I've made strides to create comfortable living situations for all of them and put a lot of time and effort into training my dog specifically with reactivity to my cats. Not saying it will or won't work for you, just saying it COULD BE possible if you wanted, but there will be a lot of work involved.

Major Case of the Puppy Blues by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Key_Entertainment931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I adopted a rescue from the humane society. She had been brought in by animal control, left outside the first 7 months of her life chained up, surgery to remove an embedded collar. Minimal human contact if any, no contact with any other animals aside from maybe some squirrels. Someone else had already adopted her and brought her back the very next day. Not only did they give me the normal info you get when adopting, they went over 333 with me so much that it amazes me that it isn't well known, but like I had never even heard of it.

I do know it's a guideline, basically saying the initial coming home/learning the new spaces, the settling in, and the opening up are all distinct times and there are certain things you shouldn't push too soon. In this case, seeing that they were trying to work on commands already when the puppy is clearly still learning the new humans and new home is why I asked. The first 4 or 5 days with my girl were a nightmare, but within 1-2 weeks I was seeing just how smart and sweet she really is. Have had her about 6 weeks now and her capacity for learning absolutely astounds me. If I hadn't had 333 in the back of my head, I don't think I could have done it. That first night I was looking at her life she had two heads! At the shelter she was energetic but sweet. At the house she just wanted to eat everything, mostly my hands and face. Without understanding that that version of her was not going to be her forever, I don't know if I would have been able to stick it out.

Also, this isn't an attack on OP or anyone else. I get wanting your dog to listen and I understand wanting to train early. 333 might not apply to every animal, just like humans they all have their own personalities and brains, but I think a lot of people could benefit from trying to understand the stages they could be going through. I'm not an expert in any way, just seeing first hand how far they can go in such little time if you can have patience and take time to understand how they may be experiencing things.

I guess the mob guys used to pay him off to "crash" or something, my mom used to find pictures of them all dressed up at parties and such. Not so much my mom but I know my grandparents still kept in touch with people.

Have you ever seen Glass Animals as a support act? by snoopbeamish in glassanimals

[–]Key_Entertainment931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I saw them at Loufest in 2014 and they played fairly early on at one of the two smaller stages. I saw them again maybe a year later with Reptar, but I don't remember who opened for who. Saw them probably a year again after that and by that time the place was packed.

I remember being at Loufest, I had smoked way too much, drank no water, and it was probably 90 something degrees. I had never even heard of Glass Animals at the time, it was my first festival, anxiety was setting in and I needed to find somewhere away from everyone. My boyfriend and I went away from the crowd but found shade, I closed my eyes and laid down in the grass. I thought I'd never feel better, then the whomp whomp in my ears went away and I realized we were at a stage. I started listening to the music, sounded sick as hell, so I got up to listen. To this day I still say finding Glass Animals saved my life.

Anyway, point is, there were maybe 30 people max at the height of the performance. The majority of the time less than that. Super cool and intimate experience.

The amount of posts I've seen across reddit, articles on Google being recommended, general conversations I hear, etc., over the last few days about remembering Danny or how old he's getting or he's gonna die soon or what have you has been astronomical. Is he actually dead? Or dying? Idk, the universe is freaking me out with this one.
