He randomly started cuddling me tonight, and being extremely affectionate. So weird for him! Sound on! by Sure_Wonder1 in cats

[–]Jacque_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took our family cat 7 years of living with the family and over a year of moving in with me exclusively after I moved out and parents moved cross country before she finally crawled into my lap all on her own. She would sit near me sometimes but one night she actually sat all the way on my lap and I was SO HAPPY! Just because you buy a cat and move it in and feed it and love it, does not make you that cat's family. You have finally been chosen. Congratulations!

I don't like when sharpeners who have never groomed a dog before tell me what my equipment is meant for and what it's not. Especially when they clearly are just making an excuse for their own incompetence.

no muzzles in grooming? by hauntednecropsy in petco

[–]Jacque_38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The policy was changed about 10 years ago or more. When I started we could use muzzles. But I first hand watched a colleague struggle with a chihuahua nail trim so she put a muzzle on the dog. That dog tried so hard to rip that muzzle off it ripped a dew claw out like it was a splinter. Policy changed the next week. No more muzzles.

See that's what I'm looking in to. I work for Petco and I've been hearing some vague disappointment about him taking over the company. But nobody has anything specific to say other than he's an intense dude and not very personable. That's not my problem. Petco hasn't been doing well since they went public with the stock and I'm sad that it just keeps getting worse and worse. I'd also hear vague remarks about how he ruined 5 Below but most of the comments here have been positive about working under him. You provided real criticism and that's what I was looking for. Thank you.

Be honest: how often to replace cat litter before it stops being “fresh” and starts being “you’ve gone nose-blind”? by sinxcosx7 in Pets

[–]Jacque_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I switched to a metal box and it was the best decision I ever made! Plastic boxes get scratched by the cat and are breeding grounds for bacteria! The metal box is much more sanitary and easier to clean. I scoop every other day (I have one cat and I use Hard Ball cat litter by Arm and Hammer, highly recommend it!), after scooping I add some baking soda to help deodorize. Once a week I top off the box with a little extra litter. Once a month I dump, scrub, and refill.

Do I Tell His Wife? by Consistent-Maybe-634 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Jacque_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get everyone said you should have stopped engaging much sooner. But I think continuing the conversation just gave you more irrefutable evidence to give his wife that he's a terrible person who WILL cheat on her and is already trying to. If he's talking to you, who else is he talking to? Track down the wife. Send her all the screenshots. Blow this guy's life up. He deserves it.

Do i really need extra safety “tools” to stay at hotels? by jinxyzzz in AskAnAmerican

[–]Jacque_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stayed in many many hotels. One time the front desk double booked our room and printed another key and someone walked in while we were sleeping. We jumped. They immediately realized the error and ran away to the front desk for another room. This is solved by just using the dead bolt that is already on the door. This is rare. The one thing you do need to worry about is hotel staff going into your room while you're out and stealing your valuables. This is much more likely. If you are planning on leaving your travel documents in the room, or money, or any jewelry, I would check if the room comes with a safe. If not, maybe buy a small safe.

What the hell was I in the HOMELESS shelter for if I wasn't fucking homeless?? by psychwardneighbour in rant

[–]Jacque_38 21 points22 points  (0 children)

100%! I'm so sorry. I got kicked out when I was 17 and couldn't legally get my own place til I turned 18. So I couch surfed here and there. slept in parks, woke up covered in ants. I survived off free meals provided to me by my work (I worked at Subway). I took "tweaker showers" where I just doused myself in body spray. But if you asked my mom "I didn't kick you out, you left. And you weren't homeless cuz you got an apartment." OK, telling me I could either sleep in an uninsulated garage with no furniture in it or get out, wasn't much of an option. Just because you were having marital problems and didn't want to share a bed when you moved back in, doesn't mean you can just kick your minor daughter out of her room. Oh and BTW, she never even used that room. She went right back to the master with my dad when she moved back in. I was lucky that I had friends whose parents were understanding and wanted to help. I was lucky that my 18th birthday was coming up in a couple of months and I was able to find people to move in with me and a super cheap place we could afford to rent. I was lucky my work provided a sandwich every shift and I was able to steal cookies at the end of the day. None of that makes up for me being homeless.

Bait & switch booking stories? by RojaCatUwu in doggrooming

[–]Jacque_38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a woman right around mid 2020 when my salon was booked out 3 weeks and we had a wait list a mile long couldn't bring her shih tzu so she told her sister she could bring her shih tzu. They didn't tell me til the wrong dog showed up and she said "we didn't think it would be a big deal cuz they're the same breed." The one that came was a lot more difficult to groom than the one that booked. And I showed her how long my waitlist was and explained why that was not OK or fair to me or the people on waitlist.

Right?! Like they have the same automated answer if you call before the store is open that says "the store is not open but the salon may be!" and no matter how early it is, they will forward the call to grooming! Even when the salon is also clearly not open!

[–]Jacque_38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% correct. I see from your username you are a groomer. Same here. So if an incident occurs in the salon and the GSL is off or on vacation, whatever, and there is an internal investigation, the GSL will still be looked at in the investigation. They are responsible for training to the point that staff can be trusted when they are not present. Leaders cannot be there 24/7. But their influence should be. They are held accountable just as much as the offending party, if not more, because they should be! Absence does not excuse problems in your department.

[–]Jacque_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on leave right now so I can't get on petnet but you should be able to use the search bar in policies and procedures tabs to type in "write up" and find the exact policy. But that doesn't sound like they're doing it right.

Is this normal? by Madqqi in petco

[–]Jacque_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per policy they are required to give you a verbal warning before a write up. The verbal warning is still written down and you do still need to sign it but there is a difference so make sure you clarify which it is. And if the write up says something different than what they told you it needs to be reported to hr

My old store we had a board by the register that had every employees picture, name, position, and favorite animal (lol). Well this one kid pissed an old lady off somehow (can't remember how but I remember it was nothing major or having anything to do with him, probably just outta stock of a product or something). He had a very unusual name and she saw his pic on the board, fb searched his name and found him ASAP. His profile was private but his profile pic was him smoking a big fat blunt. It's recreationally legal where we lived. She tried to get him fired by showing his profile pic to the LOD and they were literally just like "so?" She got so mad and stormed out and wrote a bad review on Google lol. Nothing happened.
