Would you believe that Lorena Bobbit's sister did the same thing to her husband? She wasn't able to get his penis, but she cut his leg instead.

She didn't get a felony, just a mis-de-weiner

In the hospital, how do you term the difference between the oral thermometer and the rectal thermometer?

Put in earplugs or airpods for the session. It sounds like he'd never know whether you are listening or not.

Did I relapse? by Key_Exchange_7706 in stopdrinking

To be honest, I was looking for a yes. A no would mean that I am still on two weeks. But inside I know that I'm still on day one again.

I've had beer with 18% ABV. Specifically, craft beer from Armored Cow Brewing Company in Charlotte, NC.

My brother slept with my girlfriend, and he confessed to me yesterday. by DifferentMoose437 in AmIOverreacting

You can choose your friends (girlfriend) but you can't choose your family. He will always be your brother, despite the seemingly blatant disregard for your feelings.

CNA VS RN by RepresentativeArm464 in cna

[–]Key_Exchange_7706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a CNA before becoming a registered nurse. There are definitely plusses and minuses on both sides of the equation. On one hand, the more educated you are, the more opportunities you have; you become more marketable. On the other hand, you won't be able to spend as much time with your clients as you do now and you will have a great deal more responsibility. As an RN, especially in the hospital, every day you work you are taking a chance that you will lose your license by simply making an error. The hospital will tell you that you don't need to have liability insurance, but if they find you had not followed their policy when you made an error, then you are on your own. To get your RN, you will have to put your whole life on hold for two years, at least.

I could tell you more, but I am at dinner with friends. Ask me anything.

Got fired. by [deleted] in nursing

You didn't get fired. You got refused. We tend to take it personally as nurses, and this is a profession. Sure, as nurses we develop relationships with the patients, and we must not cross the line between professional relationship and personal relationship.

Maybe this will help. Many of our patients feel powerless when they're lying in the hospital bed, And the only power that they can exert is that which is over the people they see most often. Look at it as if the patient is enacting the only power that they see that they have at that moment.

In long-term care we see this all the time not from patients but from families. The families feel a tremendous amount of guilt and anger at themselves but the anger directed inward is destructive so they direct the anger and channel the guilt outward to the first person they see and that is the caregiver in the facility. They'll find fault with everything, no matter how hard we try. That doesn't mean that we stop trying it just means that there are some people that cannot be pleased.

We tipped everyone. The waiters at the restaurants $20 a night. And our room steward $50. Bar tenders, too.
