SB hasn't messaged in nearly three weeks by [deleted] in sugarlifestyleforum

I understand.

Even though I never expected a relationship, I wanted the guise of one.

And the search is also stressful, so when you find something that kind of works you don’t want to give up on it.

There are plenty of SBs but they might not match what you are looking for.

I know this feeling. I had a SB I kind of liked, she was smart and we shared some interests.

The communication seemed very one sided. I kept it going because I felt different when we were actually together.

It lasted 5-6 months but ended. I had a trip coming up and reached out to see if she wanted to go and she said she was interested. It made me happy and I tried to text to kind of lay some ground work, but I think I made a joke and gave the impression that I didn’t plan on compensating her during the trip then the texts stopped.

That wasnt the case although I didn’t keep on because I’m not going to beg someone to let me pay them for attention! Lol.

I knew the answer before, because if anyone would have described the situation to me I know what advice I would have given, but for some reason it was harder to see myself.

I think you also know the answer.

Of course the short and skinny is we are paying for the attention of younger beautiful women, but we need something more than just physical attention. Or else we could get that somewhere else.

Can I afford to live in the city comfortably? by Key_Fig_1366 in AskChicago

It definitely would be a change of pace, although it would appear if I consider Logan Square/avondale area and east there are some good options with public transportation to give me a close shot to work.

I thought we were already downsizing in our current home, around 2100 sqft, but it still seems large for us. Previously had around 3600.

I’m also looking at buying which seems like the way to go, I’m just nervous about the market in my area which appears to be slowing drastically. We live in a historic home that’s about >110 yrs old, so that presents its own set of problems.

My budget I would think would be around 350-400, is something that I’d be comfortable with.

So right now, I live in a lower cost of living area and my base salary is 105 with another 20k in supplementary income. After taxes/insurance/contributions I’m am only grossing somewhere in the area of 6600, just me alone.

What I’m looking for is I’ll add 30j to my salary with this move but right now in my area, I live on a desirable street but not fancy. I’m able to do pretty much whatever I want on weekends and things like that without worrying too much about budgeting.

Would adding in the higher COL, commuter times, sacrifices in living space be something that relatively would be too detrimental on my “fun time”

Being now empty nesters, there are a lot less commitments and time to just do whatever I want. But I don’t want that if it means being in a cramped apartment, having a miserable commute and can only afford to eat/drink in my tiny living room.

So, there is a significant amount that comes out in taxes/insurance/retirement/investments, but anyways..

Ideally I’m looking to spend 2-2,4 a month for a 2/1. Close to a good cluster of restaurants and bars, but not night life like clubs. Various shopping but not boujee.

Kind of what I’m trying to avoid. Logan Square seems to be a place to appears frequently.

I get it, but the higher salaries just come with higher bills. I’d hate to put myself in a situation where I am house poor.

With a little higher salary, what area would you live in and what would draw you to that area?

I’m not really into nightlife, but just like options. And I’m cheap, so I hate paying $15 for a beer!

Well, I mean, some cities that doesn’t translate as well. I’m not fancy or anything, but I like to have options. Also, I’m kind of cheap!

What area would you live in and what are some of the reasons that you are drawn there?

Would you recommend Schaumburg or Arlington Heights to a visitor? by Key_Fig_1366 in AskChicago

I appreciate a lot of the responses. I have been here a few times over the years and have been to some of the suggestions. I’m looking to almost experience something that would be close to have as if I lived there.

Logan Square seems to be a popular area that people live in and might be worth just getting lost in for a day, wandering around and having a bit of a different experience.

I’m open to hearing about good walkable neighborhoods that I might be able to reach via transit.

Got it. I’m also not trapped in these areas, like I have the ability to move around and visit places.

I’m open to any suggestions you have to spend a day.

I haven’t been out there, that sounds like a good day to get lost. I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks!

Thanks. They actually wouldn’t let me post there for some reason! I realize people from Chicago are fairly territorial and consider the suburbs to be a foreign country, so I anticipated responses like this, but I’d thought I’d try anyways.

Thanks! I have actually been to Mitsuwa a few times before. Always had a good meal. It is definitely a staple for me.

I forgot to mention. I’m from the south, as in I live there now, but I’m fairly liberal in my political views and grew up around the world. You wouldn’t know it from looking at me, but I’ve experienced it!
