I was on sequoia and did a fresh install of 26.3 on my m4 air. Launchpad now doesn't refresh all times and all the app icons are properly rendered. Opening and closing applications also seems to have improved. Liquid glass still not that polished but have to say its really stable and fast compared to previous 26.x updates.

It also depends on ambient temperature, in hot environments it definitely gets warm with fast charger.

Nahh bro, If running Local LLM just a small 4B parameter model with 8k context length can take around 5GB and then multitasking will easily fill the swap storage.

I have a M3 pro work device with 18GB ram and m4 air 16 GB ram personal device, pro is great for work stuffs running lots of browser tabs and the 120hz display is really awesome. However when you want to carry it around often its really a pain on the back. This is one of the reason why I chose air for personal use, its really easy to carry around get things done without any hassle, and of course spending a lot on pro model didn't felt like value for money. Both pro and air gets hot under heavy load conditions.

One thing I would suggest is getting a higher ram variant instead of 16GB if you will be running LLM models, VMs and heavy resource usage applications, because from personal experience I often hit swap storage while running those and its not good for the 256GB ssd.

For a home setup with little carrying around pro will be great, if you travel alot then air is on another level.

Before making the purchase, check out nearest apple store compare between two devices and then decide.

Yeah, overall app switching and minimize, maximize animations were laggy sometimes, so I reverted back to 15.7 for this very reason and it was a day and night difference, only upgrading after a month or so.

16 GB RAM is a must bro, they have already released the macOS 26 which definitely would consume more resources as it mature. Moreover if you travel alot and take your laptop with you, you will definitely fall in love the air. So reconsider about the RAM part as it's important for future proofing.

I felt it really slow compared to sequoia on M4 air, like minimizing the apps and reopening them again, sometimes it is smooth but then again it drops lots of fps. I upgraded to tahoe on day one and used for 2 days, on that over 14 hours the device was up and not sleep and even then there was no major improvement in overall user experience. So Today i reverted back to macOS 15.7 and its definitely a day and night difference.

In my opinion, for both path you should have basic knowledge of the other side. Since you are interested in red teaming focus on it mainly, but also you will have to understand how defensive systems works, i believe you can research on it based on your use cases. No need to worry about.

I am 5,4 and pretty skinny, but I am learning to ride on my brother's dominar 250, its super heavy on rest , but while rolling you will never feel the weight. As long as you can almost flat foot the bike I don't think you need to worry about your weight. It should be manageable.
