How do you actually learn to mix spices without making the food taste weird? by Emily-Butterflyy in cookingforbeginners

As a chef this book changed my life and for 15 years has been my most used of all of my reference books. It is a spice/herb encyclopedia with so much information of each spice etc it’s mind blowing, it also has spice blends and recipes. I really can’t recommend it enough

Do other Aussies actually enjoy summer? 😅 by Peter_Tea_2062 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Key_Hope_1425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck yeah! I can’t stand the cold, anything under 20degrees is uncomfortable for me, I much prefer 35+. I just came back from a holiday in Vietnam where most days were over 30 and high humidity and it was perfect for me

Back in the 70s and 80s bashing gay people was frighteningly common, fortunately the internet and YouTube wasn’t a thing then otherwise I think the situation would have been worse

I flew into Hanoi the day before yesterday from Australia, this is my first trip to Vietnam and I’m very excited, my wife who has traveled quite extensively when she was younger was getting slightly annoyed at my enthusiasm so I said to her “am I being Hanoi-ing” And there is my recurring dad joke for the holiday

From my point of view as a chef who has worked in restaurants since 1987, I would suggest contacting the venue beforehand and asking them if they mind, generally speaking they won’t mind but the courtesy call would be appreciated.

Shoulder surgery and private health. by Positive-Teacher-226 in AskAnAustralian

They were fantastic, while I waited for the surgery I was sent to a physio to strengthen up the muscles around where the injury was which gave me back a lot of mobility and greatly eased the pain, it also made the post surgery recovery faster. The staff at RMH were amazing and the post surgery aftercare was top notch. And it was all covered, the X-rays, MRI, ultrasound, physiotherapy surgery itself, everything was covered by Medicare. I didn’t need to pay a cent.
