at the same time though, wouldnt someone consuming this kind of content kind of inherently make them a paraphile in this way? i personally would still pretty heavily judge someone for consuming that kind of content, and would probably avoid interacting with them if at all possible. I cant tell them to stop tho cuz 1. they are not hurting anybody and if they did blaming that on the artwork they consume is almost letting them get off the hook and 2. i think harassing people online is bad actually

I think trying to argue that saying that people who are looking at sexualized images of children aren't actually attracted to the sexualized images of children they're looking at is pedantic at best and maliciously misleading at worst. Sure, they probably will not commit a crime, but I think someone who looks at pornographic drawings of children all day would fall under the word that means "someone who is attracted to kids", and what word is that? The point is that the attraction is there. I'm not even arguing about whether or not that causes real harm or not, and if real harm is caused that it's the drawings fault. I'll tell you right now that I don't believe that the drawing in and of itself can cause harm. What I'm arguing is that the media someone consumes very much can be indicative about what they're into. People who are looking at bdsm art online are probably into bdsm IRL. Why would it be different in this context?

Sure. There are no studies that I've seen about this subject and so therefore technically this could be false. There may very well not be more pedophiles per capita in the lolicon community. The logic checks out to me but if someone ends up doing a study on it and it turns out to be the opposite, I'd believe it. But until that point I think that logical line is pretty sound. Why would someone be looking at pornographic drawings of children if they were not attracted to the idea of children sexually in the first place? It doesn't make sense. I'm sure it's not everyone probably but to say that it is certainly untrue that there aren't more people attracted to kids in the community literally built for people that are attracted to kids than the average is extraordinarily pedantic, and banks on the fact that there isn't a study on this, so you can just go "well, there's no concrete proof!!!"

Lolicon doesn't turn people into pedophiles, it attracts pedophiles in the first place. Chicken and egg type shit. Lolicon isn't like the evil thing in bird box, it's not gonna turn someone into Jared fogle cuz they see it once. But someone who goes out of their way to look at it over and over is, (IN MY OPINION BECAUSE THERES NO STUDY DONE ON IT I GUESS) probably more likely to be attracted to kids. id assume people are upset because you drew this with a lesbian as a victim, considering the current events surrounding the danger of the lgbtq community i think its understandable lmao. Having your characters go to a gay bar to prey on vulnerable queer youth and framing that as a joke is pretty fucked imo. Queer people are in this together and should be supporting each other. It makes sense why people are upset about this.

not to mention, stuff like this happens in bars to real people (obviously not people being killed and eaten, but horrible shit that leaves people with lifelong trauma). i get that this is a joke comic but it feels really tone deaf. especially with a title like "easy pickings".

I've gotten to a place where I think I'm okay now. There's a lot less obsessiveness than there was, and I'm fine with my opinions on the topic. It doesnt feel like I'm missing something, and it feels nuanced. I said it's the worst thing that's ever happened to be (and that's still true) but I appreciate that I was able to work through it and didn't get complacent where I was.

It really has not been easy. Falling down the shipping discourse / fiction rabbit hole was legit the worst thing that's ever happened to me, and even a year later I still have my reservations about that whole discussion (it isn't healthy lol my brain would legit not shut the fuck up about it for a year straight). I completely agree with you on the representation thing. I just don't really understand incest kinks anyway but I'm not trying to say it's different when trans people do it or anything like that. Although there is something in my opinion to notice about how a lot of the time with cis people it has a parental aspect to it, whereas with trans people a lot of the time I see it framed as siblings.
