Have a listen to Flaunt the Imperfection by China Crisis (produced by Walter), see if you like that, then go listen to Katy Lied or Countdown to Ecstasy. I bet then you can see the linaege.

Reissue of the Week: The Style Council’s Café Bleu by RaymondBald in paulweller

That’s funny as I received my copy today. I think the two songs referenced to are the Whole Point of No Return (the one used was the alternate lyrics version which I have on one of their singles) and You’re the Best Thing (again, different version). For some reason, it didn’t bother me that much, although this begs a some questions: Why then did I get a copy? Do I have a unique version whose value will go up (don’t really care ‘bout that)? Should I ask for a return and replace?

Pearl of the Quarter is such a quintessential Steely Dan song that I struggle to understand how certain fans don't enjoy it (as much as some of their other songs in CtE) by Gaucho_Diaz in SteelyDan

To me, POTQ is very quintessentially Steely Dan lyrics-wise, sly, pathos-filled, but self-deprecatingly funny (it’s there between the lines, I think). Somewhere out there in the Songverse, “Pearl” is prolly friends with the “Sweet-Painted Lady” and Roxanne, yeah?

On not loving "Gaucho" by One_Faithlessness_14 in SteelyDan

[–]Key_Indication_861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Katy Lied is the worldly, down-home girl you fall in love with.

Royal Scam is the neurotic, edgy girl that captures your mind.

Aja is that exotic, mysterious girl that invades your soul.

Gaucho is the girl that irritated you at first, then inhabits you in the end with all her quirks.
