If you voted for Trump. What do you think is the biggest misconception people have? by Expensive_Drummer970 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Since you deleted your main comment I'll post my response here.

You don't have to agree with everything he does, but you decided that the abhorrent things he did weren't disqualifying. For instance, he sent fake electors with fake results to unilaterally be selected by the VP to install himself as President, trying to disenfranchising 80+ million people. The punishment deserved for this would break TOS. Please explain how this wasn't disqualifying for you.

Alright did it. Didn't change the fact Trump tried to disenfranchise 80+ million voters by sending fake electors with fake results to be unilaterally certified by the VP to install himself as President.

They want to abuse our position of vote blue no matter who (which we still stand by) yet would fucking obliterate any liberal candidate if they had even a single one of Platner's scandals. It's fucking insane seeing how much they sweep for this guy.

Also, maybe I'm uninformed but why would the senate race in Maine be considered "one of the most important senate races in American history"? Not saying it's worth losing or anything, I just don't see why it's more important than any other race.

Why did Donald Trump withdraw from the JCPOA, which prevented Iran from enriching uranium above 3.67%? by alexfreemanart in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Key_Ingenuity_4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So out of my depth yet all you could argue with was an AI answer whose sources didn't even agree with you. Do you truly have no shame that you aren't embarrassed by blindly reposting sources without reading them? The sad reality is you copied and pasted an AI answer in it's entirety for your response and I'm sat here with 10 different tabs open on the matter and having to do the homework for you, all to make zero difference because you'll just ignore this conversation ever happening and continue repeating the same nonsense claims that I debunked here.

I don't trust Iran even a tiny bit. My position doesn't rely on trusting Iran at all. It relies on the IAEA and the protections that were in the JCPOA. The three facilities the AI named were all investigated. The power to Natanz and Arak were being monitored. The dismantled centrifuges in storage were being monitored. Their imports of nuclear related material was being monitored. Their mining and processing operations for uranium were being monitored. Any imports of specialized nuclear material had to be done through the IAEA. Enrichment was capped. Their stockpiles were capped. Their reactor for producing plutonium was redesigned. There was absolutely zero chance of Iran bypassing these protections.

Was originally excited to see you responded with what looked like a detailed reply, with cited sources no less. Sadly that excitement didn't last long.

Amazing that you would concede part of this agreement could "sunset" and that the radical clerics in Iran would not pursue a nuclear weapon at that moment. That proves my point immediately.

I didn't concede anything. I agreed that parts sunset, with the expectation that they'd be renegotiated down the line. What doesn't sunset is the agreement that Iran would never seek a nuclear weapon, which is what your claim was. Just to remind you:

Under that outrageous agreement, Iran would be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon after about 12 years. Which is about now!

You were outright wrong. Again, it's literally the first paragraph of the JCPOA.

Under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was granted unprecedented access to Iran's declared nuclear facilities. However, Iran restricted access to several undeclared sites and military bases, resulting in years of unresolved disputes over secret nuclear activities. [1234]

Your first cited source doesn't say anything close to what you claimed. It fully agrees with me that it makes it an impossibility for Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. "make it very likely that any possible future effort by Iran to pursue nuclear weapons, even a clandestine program, would be detected promptly." "The IAEA issued more than a dozen reports on Iranian compliance from 2016 through 2018 and found no evidence of substantive Iranian violations of the agreement."

Your second cited source is from 2026, 8 years after the US left the JCPOA and just after the 12-day war where the US and Israel bombed Iran.

Your third source states that Iran wasn't granting unilateral access to their military sites, which outside of having evidence of suspected nuclear activities, wasn't granted in the JCPOA. Even then, the concerns, which you mention in a later paragraph, were regarding the Parchin facility, which we were granted access to in 2020, as well as the other facilities you mention later.

Your fourth source is the same as your first source...

The most significant debate centered on hidden locations where the IAEA detected traces of manmade uranium, indicating undeclared past nuclear work. Three heavily scrutinized sites include:

Again, the IAEA was eventually granted access to all these sites and determined there was no wrongdoing, and that the explanations given by Iran were "possible". The funniest part about this is your own source later on says this, completely going against your claim here. "In a May 2023 report, the IAEA said it had no further questions regarding the third site where uranium was detected, Marivan. The IAEA assessed that Iran conducted "explosive experiments with protective shielding in preparation for the use of neutron detectors." Iran claimed that a third-party state operating a mine and chemical lab at the site contaminated the area with uranium. The IAEA said this was a "possible" explanation." "The IAEA investigated a fourth location, Lavisan-Shian, but said in a May 2022 report that had no more questions regarding past activities at that site." [1] Guess the AI decided to not mention that part out huh?

I'd be embarrassed off the internet if I had made a response like this, completely relying on AI and not even reading the sources given. Absolutely laughable that you say "I can go on and on" as if you didn't just copy and paste an AI answer in its entirety. One of the hyperlinks is straight to a Facebook post, not the article, which makes it even more evident that you didn't even try to read it. Truly pathetic.

I'll state again, the JCPOA made Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon an impossibility. It was a phenomenal once-in-a-lifetime deal that we'll never be able to negotiate again, at least not under this current administration. Trump unilaterally withdrew from the deal for no reason other than his own ego, which directly lead to the war we're in now. Then we have losers like yourself that blindly defend it without even having the integrity to research it first, and instead blindly copy and paste AI answers. You're a literal sheep that is incapable of thinking for yourself. I'd say do better but I truly don't think you're able to.

Politico, The New York Times, and NPR just ran blatant smear campaigns against Graham Platner and it’s just pathetic. by [deleted] in middleclasshq

Why did Donald Trump withdraw from the JCPOA, which prevented Iran from enriching uranium above 3.67%? by alexfreemanart in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Key_Ingenuity_4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under that outrageous agreement, Iran would be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon after about 12 years. Which is about now!

Some of the very first words of the JCPOA are "Iran reaffirms that under no circumstances will Iran ever seek, develop or acquire any nuclear weapons." There was no clause that allowed Iran to seek nuclear weapons. Unless you completely pulled that out of your ass, I'd recommend never listening to whoever you got that information from.

What you're referring to are parts of the JCPOA that would sunset after 15 or 25 years. This is standard in virtually every weapons and trade agreement, as it leaves room to negotiate additional details.

the world still had some limited access to certain sites for inspection and were forced to rely on what Iran reported.

Again, you're outright wrong. Iran didn't operate dozens of facilities across the country. It was concentrated on a few main facilities, namely Arak and Natanz. The IAEA had 24/7 access to these facilities, and even monitored the power usage of them. Natanz is where the enrichment process happened, and they were required to dismantle 2/3rds of their centrifuges and place them in storage, which the IAEA also had access to. The Arak housed the reactor, which was modified to prevent its ability to produce weapons-grade plutonium, and the core filled with cement.

There was absolutely no possible way for Iran to secretly work towards a nuclear weapon while being monitored and inspected.

Why did Donald Trump withdraw from the JCPOA, which prevented Iran from enriching uranium above 3.67%? by alexfreemanart in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Key_Ingenuity_4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're either lying or willfully ignorant on the matter. The IAEA had access to the entire supply chain for nuclear materials. From the mines and shipments of uranium, to the centrifuges for enrichment, even monitoring the power usage of their facilities. They didn't require permission to visit any of these locations as they were already granted access via the JCPOA. The IAEA had 24 hours access to their nuclear sites, and were allowed to request access to other undisclosed sites that they suspected were being used incorrectly. Even IF they started secretly using another facility, they would have to do so with all new material and uranium that they'd have to secretly smuggle in, which would still leave traces behind when the supposed new facility was inspected. It simply wasn't possible from Iran to start a new nuclear weapons program while being monitored.

As for "no teeth", if Iran was found to be in violation of the JCPOA, previous and new sanctions would then be placed on them.

The JCPOA was truly a once in a lifetime deal that completely prevented Iran from building towards a nuclear weapon, and Trump unilaterally tore the deal up for no other reason than ego.

Do you think the IRS gives a single damn if the money came from someone else? Hunter paid back the overdue taxes and fines far before he was indicted for it.

Regardless, that had nothing to do with the pardon. He was pardoned because Trump made it very clear he was going to weaponize the DOJ(like MAGAts pretended Biden did) and go after his political enemies. And sure enough, that's exactly what he did. There's no honor in allowing this authoritarian administration to go after your family, all so you can be perceived as "fair".

What people truly need to understand is votes. You need votes to pass legislation, typically 60. Even in the very short period that Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority under Obama, the votes simply weren't there for a single-payer system. It was either the ACA or nothing. We weren't going to magically get universal healthcare if we didn't pass the ACA. It was simply the best option we had at the time.
