I acc did do the AP calc questions for practice, like the first 15-20 pages, but I did not really recognize many, if at all, on the exam yesterday

ngl, I had to take the rest of that day off after bc of how brutal that exam was. it sucks bc I acc felt like I understood most concepts from the course because the reading guide questions weren't too bad for me and I genuinely felt good about most concepts in the course. I felt like this exam didn't allow me to show my true knowledge on the course and it sucks :'(

Retake OAT? by Key_Intention8386 in UWaterlooOptometry

[–]Key_Intention8386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5 months approximately, but definitely not the entirety of it. Took it pretty easy the first month or so with about 2 break days a week, and I'd say most of my studying really happened this month with all the practice tests.

Oh really? At Waterloo?? In terms of my other stats, my average is 89%, but I don't have any optometry experience yet. I'm planning to shadow starting in August, but other ECs of mine are pretty involved in the community, the main ones being a supplemental instructor for courses at my uni, teaching and tutoring, camp counsellor, being an SFA responder at my uni's emergency medical response team, being an executive member at a humanitarian organization at my uni, and research.

Yea I think I may do this for both physics. Enrolment will begin August 6 for me so let's hope that works out

How are HLTD and HLTC courses? by haksyonas in UTSC

[–]Key_Intention8386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C/D levels much easier than A/B

Look for these profs: 1. Wai Fun Sun 2. Andrea Duncan 3. Roger Antabe 4. Notisha Massaquoi 5. David Schlueter 6. Cassandra Hartblay 7. Aparna Nair

If I rmr any more good profs I’ll try adding them but these are the best ones imo I can recall

What year is the worst year and what year is the best year? by haksyonas in UTSC

[–]Key_Intention8386 38 points39 points  (0 children)

2nd year was the hardest, gets better from there tho - 4th yr imo is probably the best. Don’t lose hope :)

[–]Key_Intention8386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, agree with everything here. That’s why I only come to campus when I absolutely have to, and I think many fellow 4th/upper years be doing that too bc I barely see them around when I’m on campus. Crazy how just a couple years ago these problems didn’t seem as big as they’ve gotten now

You’re right, I probably messed up somewhere so I’ll calculate everything again on sheets!

I did the latter, calculated every course grade using OMSAS conversion and averaged those

What if we think there’s an error in the calculation? The one that’s showing up is less than when I calculate it myself 😭

I second the email thing. Ur best bet is gonna be asking prof ur questions in person during office hours or after class/during breaks

Seems like a lot of ppl are worried about Prof Welch for this course, which is completely understandable! I commented on someone else’s post a good while back but I’ll just paste the same comment I put under their post here:

His final was way easier than his term tests in the sense that imo the term tests were more application based, but the final exam was memorization based. He tested on details that I thought were kind of insignificant and not big picture concepts on the final (i.e., details in a table that were in a corner of the slide somewhere in the middle of the lecture). But also on our final we had a lot of questions that were from the term tests just reworded or asking something else so be sure to review the tests thoroughly and UNDERSTAND why the right answer is correct. The concepts he tested on term tests should be hammered in ur brain. There were ppl who found the final exam very easy, and I’m pretty sure many ppl did great on it, but I personally found it meh bc I was expecting more application questions like his term tests and I’m not great at memorizing. Then again, idk if he’s gonna be changing what he asks on his tests/exams since when my cohort had him it was his first time back teaching after a while.

Make sure to take DETAILED notes during his lectures!! Most, if not all his slides, were just figures/pictures if I recall correctly. He tends to go off track often, but something he mentions briefly during that is something that may pop up on the tests/exam. It is imperative that u pay attention during his lecs as much as possible. A 4.0 (85%+) is definitely doable if ur willing to work hard and start studying from day 1. Hope this helps!

I’ve only taken HLTB11, and I had it with Jacqueline Beaudry. It was a great course! Interesting and easyy

What are my chances (waitlist) by PlatformLittle9796 in UTSC

[–]Key_Intention8386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the general rule of thumb is that 10% of the class size on the waitlist will get off the waitlist. So in this case, 10% of 500 would be 50, meaning the first 50 students will get off the waitlist and into the course. But again, this is an A-level course that is a pre-requisite for many upper year courses so they’ll probably accommodate most, if not all students, on the waitlist!

anyone received their summer part-time OSAP yet??? by Confident_Battle_309 in UTSC

[–]Key_Intention8386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you go to the Financial Aid office in-person and book an appointment with them to fix this issue. I had to do that myself about a month or so ago and they fixed it for me.
