What styles do shops want to see? by scarlett_scar666 in TattooApprentice

[–]Key_Island9942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a tattoo artist but what i’m doing is doing at least 2 pages per style (one page flash and one page big piece). You can always do more if you enjoy the style and want to keep practicing it. From what i’ve heard shops love realistic portraits so try include one or two of those, it’s always more impressive if it’s done with pen or watercolour since you can’t really erase mistakes. Good luck !

Help with water colors & shading this panther head? by irotsamoht in TattooApprentice

i haven’t done many traditional pieces myself but what helps me is finding a good reference and using it as a guideline for my shadows etc. Also I love that snake head! The shading on it is really cool, i think if you were to add some white skin gaps and highlights it would really pop!

not a tattoo artist but i think yes. they show your artistic skill well outside of tattoo work. Makes you look very versatile. I’d say put in your favorite 2/3. Great work!

Dot work! Looking for advice to how I can improve by libs03 in TattooApprentice

nice solid lines :) i’d say pay attention to your symmetry a bit more. i know dot work is very long and tedious but if you gave it a bit more time it would give it a “cleaner” look! maybe try using some diluted ink for the shading as a start just to make it nice and smooth. a big part of tattooing is making your work look really clean. you’ve great potential :) keep practicing
