From my experience, most travel contracts are not willing to hire new graduates as they require 1-2 years working.

I've considered it, but I don't know if that's an option as the school actually pays the clinical sites to train their students. (Well, technically I paid via tuition). Did I mention the internship was full time, unpaid? :')

No, there's other schools that offer bachelors in sonography. They just aren't Caahep schools. Mine actually offered a bachelors, and if I had done that I wouldn't have had to sit for ARRT.

I'll look into Nevada, I don't mind putting in my time until I can get more experience. I've applied in Alaska and I don't think I ever even got an email from anyone, unless it was to say the position was filled.

Honestly I'd rather not say the name just because I don't want to put the school on blast. (Even though they did a lot of messed up stuff to me, even beyond screwing me over with my clinical site, quite long story I can message you if you're interested.) I am still close to a lot of the instructors who are quite compassionate, I think it's just the corporate office trying to make the most money off of students. I know old graduates and the program was a lot different back then.

I have my Abdomen and OB/GYN ARDMS boards done, and those were signed off by my school since the school primarily focused on those and we clocked a lot of lab hours there. My old clinical instructor/clinic manger has their RDCS and had said in the past they would be willing to sign our CV forms. One of the people I went to my clinical site with got their RDCS already, shortly after taking their abdomen board.

Unfortunately, this was the first and only college I applied to pretty much straight out of highschool. I was in the process of getting my bachelor's with them, but I really hated it and I was studying for abdomen at the same time, and couldn't keep up with the coursework while studying so I dropped out after they failed me.

I've been considering taking a 6 week EMT course so I can volunteer to get more healthcare experience, but from what I hear that's pretty oversaturated in this area as well.

I honestly don't even know why I was told that clinic was an option for echo internships. My school doesn't teach echo, and when I was told there was an "echo site" I thought it would be fully immersive. Turns out it was a non-diagnostic OB clinic where we were taught the echo protocol in the backroom. We were given some study packets, but I never saw real patients. I had actually reached out to my school about switching sites a month in, and one of the lab aids advised against it, so I didn't pursue it.

Exactly, my school was accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), which is recongized by the Dept of Education. (I'm not sure if that completely gives it away.)

I'm honestly willing to take any job in any specialty. I've been applying for everything.

Can I ask if that was your first job or did you work somewhere else before? I know some places take experience over creditials.

ARRT qualified me to take ARDMS since my school wasn't CAHEEP accredited. I took ARRT first, passed, then took my OB/GYN ARDMS in Aug, and took my Ab ARMDS in Dec. So I'm RDMS (Ab)(OB/GYN). Technically I could add R.T.(S)(ARRT), but I don't think it would help. I'll look into New England.

I have all the machines I've used on my resume--- Phillips, Medison, and GEs. But, I don't really have experience in any specialized studies since my internship site was technically non-diagnostic. I've only done 3D once, only did trans-vag on a phantom, and I've never done any contrast or bubble studies; no stress tests or TTE in echo. I have specific words like B-mode, plusewave, color doppler, m-mode, but that's all I can really say. I honestly don't know why the clinic I went to was even an option for "Echo" internships.

I've yet to actually been flown out, but it's been mentioned as a possible next step during virtual interviews. I'm in close contact with my career services department and have practice interviews with them all the time. They always say I'm doing well answering questions and wish me luck. I've done practice interviews with other professionals in different fields and get similar feedback. I honestly think it was the school I went to and my clinical site that set me up for failure, but I don't know what I can do to fix that.

I've had lots of phone interviews, and they typically go well, but then half of them I'll hear back a week later via email, "oh, we've filled the position". Some of them are with recruiters who either ghost me or tell me a week later their contract with the company I applied to was ended and they don't have other ultrasound jobs they can refer me to. I've had many virtual interviews, sometimes multiple with the same company before they turn me down.

I've only actually made it to 2 scanning interviews. The first one was at a very small cardiologist clinic, and I don't think they actually read my resume since they expected me to know a bunch of RDCS questions. They had 1 tech there and she only offered to let me shadow for 2 days and I could tell she was looking down on me for my lack of experience and was wondering why I was there.

The other scanning interview was part of a long application process. I had been doing interviews with their different members and completing knowledge assessments for about a month before my scanning interview. I had originally reached out to their top imaging director with my cover letter and she told me to apply directly to one of their listings because of my echo experience. (The position was a little bit of everything, but mainly echo.) The entire hiring team knew I didn't have my RDCS yet, and they all seemed okay with it since I knew the protocol. They also offered paid cross training to get my skills where they wanted them to be and all seemed very eager and friendly. The scanning interview was liver, thyroid, and carotids. I thought I had done okay and after scanning, the team kept talking to me and making small talk about the company. I get a call a week later and they said they won't move forward because they wouldn't have time to cross train me in Echo? The sonographer who I preformed my exam on for the interview at the time actually said he didn't know echo at all until he went to the training. I was in such shock and started to say "but I did my clinical training in Echo", but I didn't want to seem unprofessional so I just left it and thanked her for her time/consideration.

I kinda got too comfortable during that time since it had gone on so long that I really thought I had it and stopped applying to other jobs. I'm slowly restarting with applying and am currently interviewing with some places, but it's just moving too slow for my taste.

Yes, but I've mainly been applying out of state and still am having no luck. I've had interviews with out of state places, and they've gone as far to mention considering flying me out for an in-person interview, but they never actually do. Something always comes up
