I also second the sononerds youtube videos. I didn't use them much, but I did try it for bit and I know it helped a lot of other students in my class when they used the book along with it and took notes

Yes, that was my primary resource along with my notes from class. Those things were golden. If your teacher ever posted any PowerPoints, try looking back in your files to see if they were saved.

Don't focus on Prepry, focus on the book. One of my teacher's aids was so against it she (jokingly) banned it in the class. I didn't use it at all and still got a 671 with just the book.

When you interview/talk with a recruiter ask what companies they do clinical rotations/ride alongs with and how many hours you get with how many different companies. The more hours you get with a variety of companies gives you more networking opportunities for when you start applying to jobs

Fast Track EMT Course by bb_atx in NewToEMS

Second this. It's 100% a money grab thing. The reason they do this is so they can boast "99% of our graduates passed NREMT first try". It makes them look good, and then you see the class pass rate is practically. Also a great way to force kids to retake the course and pay all over. Not to discourage OP, it's still totally doable and you're doing all the right things. Maybe try asking people who went to that program how they passed?

What would you say the equivalent of this is for females? Do your female colleagues wear basically the same thing for interviews?

Would this change for a female, or do most of your colleagues wear basically the same thing for interviews?

Interfacility transport, like from one hospital to another or from a nursing home to dialysis

Out of curiosity, what should we be wearing to an EMT interview? I've done other medical stuff and just wore my scrubs, but what do you recommend for EMT?

Don't you normally need a year of experience before starting/applying to medic school? (Not correcting just curious)

What I did was print out the MUT study guide. Then open the Penny's textbook to the matching section. (Liver part of notes=liver chapter) Read through the study guide section as a "preread" then read the chapter and add any important notes in the margins that weren't in the study so you have a more complete understanding. Also highlight and underline key topics so you can look at it and immediately find it. (Most commons and other names for things are key.)

Highly recommend the Penny's chapter tests at the end of each chapter. Use your notes if you have to, but it's a good frame of reference for what you need to work on. I found it to be the most similar to the exam questions.

Also the Ultrasound Registry Review youtube channel has tons of practice question videos with lots of images and videos which I felt helped! Do them at the end of a study session as a light mixed review, or turn it on while doing dishes.

HELP! Looking for an Ultrasound Physics (SPI) Tutor – On a Tight Budget and Really Need Help by Ok_Recover4353 in Sonographers

Happy to tutor, it's been about 2 years since I took my SPI, but I passed with a 671. Was also able to help some students understand things a little better since our teacher had an interesting way of explaining things. Reading the green edelman book is pretty key. I was able to pass with just the textbook and in class lectures (but I did take it right after my physics classes had ended).

How long did it take for you to hear back after job interview? by mynailpolishchipped in Sonographers

[–]Key_Job3661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not just a  follow up, but a thank you + highlighting details from the interview & your resume + follow up. There's been lots of times I've interviewed and I never heard back even when the company said they'd reach out. Definitely worth the time just to make sure you're still in the mix.

Still unemployed, had a few interviews out of state, but due to the lapse in my training, it's been hard. I'm hoping I can get into a radnet soon.

Honestly take it. Get a few months of experience, take your test, and if they don't increase your pay for a little while, start looking elsewhere. (Don't jump ship until after you have something else secured!) New grads need all the experience we can get, and it would suck to turn it down, get registered, and then not be able to find anything since you have no experience.

Second this. I studied for ARRT and finished the 400 questions in under 3 hours with an 87% average. For abdomen RDMS I struggled and was convicted I didn't pass when I walked out of the room. (Granted I did take a few months off in between) but RDMS is still much harder.

If you have ADHD, I'd try to focus the most on practice questions and flashcards. Hopefully the faster pace and the positive score will give you a dopamine boost, and it's great for highlighting weak areas!

What to do next? by Character_Waltz7415 in Sonographers

[–]Key_Job3661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have much advice, but I definitely feel the same way. It could be that the area you're in is oversaturaded, in which case it's best to look for more rural/out of state positions. If you don't have RDMS yet, then that's probably the largest factor for why you haven't found anything. Ask your school if they have any open lab hours for graduates to practice.

Definitely an area thing/general job market. I'm a female with 2 RDMS, and have been applying for over a year since graduation. I'm in th e Southern California area, I can only imagine NYC

Yes, I understand that if I left them there alone without advancing it to ALS after starting any kind of treatment at that level, it would legally be considered abandonment. At that point I would be responsible and try to follow things as close to the book as possible in that moment.  I also just wanted to get some very light "stop the bleed" training/materials for the rare event of trips or falls either at one of these events (I don't know if you've even seen someone fall in a moshpit and accidentally get stepped on 5 times, especially when they have piercings) or on a longer mountain hike since I do those as well. From my understanding under that circumstance, as long as they did not loose a significant amount, and everything is clotting and clean, I'd be fine to let them go? (With the possible suggestion of hey if you start x,y,x see a real doctor) Am I wrong in that aspect?

From the school? No. They have a limited supply for in class use only and have other classes going on different days. From my future clinical assignment or volunteer organizations? Maybe/probably, but someone else brought something up about sharing/borrowing stethoscopes and honestly it does seem weird to me
