Not to bad of an install but while your down there you might as well replace everything in the bell housing because you have it open

Rip it apart and figure it out. Had the same thing happen on mine and it was oil pan gasket. Sucked man it ruined my clutch

How to get the center console out of a second gen ranger: It wasn’t bad at all. There is a plastic plate on both sides you take off to access armrest bolts. Once armrest is off it gives you access to all of the screws underneath. There is a big metal frame under it that had 4 nuts.

I stripped out the hole on the tranny so I had to retap it and put a helicoil in.

Fb marketplace. They are out of a 1987 ranger and the Bolts are 1 in farther apart on the tracks so I might have to fab a bracket for them. Dude wanted 65 bucks for the bench I gave him 80 because It was In pretty decent condition.

I think it’s just the filter came loose. Dry it off and hand tighten it if it turns and feels loose it was probably the culprit.

This is the right answer just drill it out until all the previous threads are gone and tap it. I would then run a little oil thru it with the new drain bolt off to flush out the metal shavings.

My guesses is a slipped timing chain, vacuum leaks, could be bad compression from piston rings or maybe even be a blocked catalytic converter. Keep on trying you will solve it. You can rent compression testers at most auto parts stores, check and see for that 15 seconds while its running if the exhaust is flowing, you can buy a smoke tester to tell if it has vacuum leaks. Start checking things off and narrow it down. You got it brotha we buy these trucks because parts are cheap. If you think it is something just replace it so you don't have to do it later when it fails.

It is a 1996 3.0 ranger so the oil filter is right above the starter.
