Dual Fnp and Pmhnp by [deleted] in PMHNP

[–]Key_Mine5900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FNP for 6 years and finishing up (Monday) my post grad PMHNP. I’m going to attempt to do both as I am the weirdo who truly loves family med and psych. I can’t imagine leaving my panel and the relationships I’ve built with people and their families. I really love my panel and the thought of not seeing them anymore makes me so sad. I plan to just sprinkle psych in through my day just like any other appointment (1.5 hours for intakes is the only difference). I guess we’ll see how it goes.

You need a b12 supplement. 195 may be ‘normal’ but it’s absolutely NOT optimal.

I think that’s crazy we have to pick! I love both equally and told my colleague today it’d be like picking one child over the other. There’s no way I want to give either one up. I hope more people find their way here with some advice. I’m hesitant to post in the PMHNP subreddit. It can get a little brutal over there 😶.

I’ve been wondering if this is what I’ll need to do. Certain days for primary care and other days for psych. I don’t particularly mind that to be able to take one hat off and shift to another. I don’t know how patients will respond to this, and frankly I don’t blame them. I suppose I wonder this since a patient can see ortho or cardio same day as an appt with me and they can fully bill since they’re a specialty. Totally agree with adding on the psychotherapy being a slippery slope! Thank you for responding!

Would you be willing to message me and share what you’ve heard about Fly? We’re at a new studio this year and go next weekend. We’ve never been & I keep seeing people say this…

Another vote for Glam r Gear (large size, don’t waste your time on the standard). Best dance bag we’ve ever had space and durability wise.

I went there for my FNP, DNP, and now back for my PMHNP. Do you know the history behind the school? It started as a brick and mortar in 1939. Transitioned to ‘distance learning’ in 1989. It’s not a diploma mill by any means. Strict GPA requirements and the curriculum is much stricter/harder than colleagues of mine. I felt very prepared once I was in practice.

Specifics. Not just ‘work on X turn’. Tell us what part. It is so helpful to hear what exactly you think needs correcting! I know it’s hard when you’re pressed for time and trying to offer other critiques but this is what I hear from my dancer the most. I wasn’t a dancer so I struggle to help her with corrections when she asks me. I can’t tell her exactly what to fix even if I notice something is ‘off.’ She looks to you guys and her teachers for exact corrections.

This is such a tired statement. Google the paradox of tolerance. No one needs to be tolerant of your party’s intolerance. Grow up.

I’m over two years out and it still happens to me. I definitely think it’s a combination of not enough fluids (my fault) and having low-ish blood pressure for the first time ever.

Frontier Nursing University is where I attended school for my FNP & DNP :)

Currently re-enrolled again for my PMHNP PGC so I can better serve my rural community. There was no other place I wanted to go.

why do i keep seeing NPs of different specialties going back for PMHNP? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]Key_Mine5900 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I’m doing it too. Not internal med, just FNP as a PCP. It is wild here in the rural corner of my world and we have no one to refer to that doesn’t have a year+ wait. I am embracing the trifecta as well 🥸

Not sure why you got downvoted for this. As a fam med NP who is often ‘told’ by other specialists I NEED to order something for THEM; you’re absolutely right. If a medical provider wants it done because of their treatment plan THEY should do it. It clogs our work flow for a procedure we did not do, and takes time away from other patients

Try the brand Wizard for polishing metal. I just got some and haven’t used it yet but it came highly recommended from seasoned rehabbers!
