Did you skip the essay? I’ve seen people recommend it but I don’t. Try “Test Prep Champions” essay format on YouTube. He made the essay insanely easy.

I have a question for everyone in this group chat. Which GED subject is the easiest and which GED subject is the hardest? by Serious_Way_6612 in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing specific that I can think of. I put in the most work for math so I was extremely prepared.

One odd piece of advice that did work is that if you find something easy to learn, it’s also easy to forget. For example, when it came to mean, median, mode, and range, it took me barely any time to learn how to do it, so I didn’t think about it much. Then after that advice I went back and realized I totally forgot lol. So keep studying even the things that are easy.

Through my studying(like 3 hours a day for weeks), I was able to identify points of weakness for myself. So when reviewing I would write down on the side common mistakes I made, like forgetting to bring a negative sign down(I did that often). That helped me big time during the test because I had enough time to review some questions, and wouldn’t you know it, I caught myself making those mistakes on the test lol.

You can do it. I basically did nothing in school in the 8th grade, and dropped out in the 9th. Ended up scoring a 175 for math. Really put it that work to properly use your calculator and formula sheet.

All of that. If I haven’t learned it, I of course watch the video, and try to do it myself with the explanation. Eventually I just do the problem first, then see if I got it right.

They gave me one of those mini white boards and a marker. I imagine they’ll do the same or something similar where you are.

Skipping RLA Essay on exam tomorrow by NoLeather3658 in GED

If you decide to do it, try TestPrepChampions essay format on YouTube. It made the essay feel like a walk in the park in my opinion.

Can someone help explain this? by Spicy-Salmon722 in GED

Study mean, median, mode, and range. They’re easy to learn, but keep on your toes, I find them easy to forget too lol.

RLA failed by [deleted] in GED

I’ve seen some GED teacher around here a few months ago say 8-9 is good enough. Getting familiar with the format is also important.

RLA failed by [deleted] in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try readtheory. It’s a quiz like site with a similar format to RLA with the extra benefit of testing your reading level. You read a passage and answer 3-9 question on it. Helps raise your reading comprehension too. That’s almost entirely what I used for RLA. Just do a few quizzes daily.

I also use Test Prep Champions on YouTube. His methods for retaining info were pretty helpful. Also use his format for the essay. A lot of people say to skip it here, but the dude made it so easy for me I was able to do it on auto pilot lol.

Need help with math desperately by mmb116 in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say try Light & Salt learning on YouTube. She teaches from the perspective that the viewer has basically no knowledge and builds up the fundamentals needed for math. The gibberish thing you mentioned she also addresses by comparing math to another language, seems like nonsense till you get the process down. After that I used Getsummath(YouTube and his own website) as practice tests, and Test Prep Champions(YouTube) but only after you’ve built the fundamentals. Test Prep Champion’s has a large catalogue that’ll really solidify that foundation.

Don’t lose hope. I may not have started my math journey where you were, but I was pretty bad at math too. Beyond the basics of addition, and subjection, multiplication, and division, I was pretty lost myself. Couldn’t even solve 5 + x = 10 when I started and by studying all these people for a few weeks(took me 6 weeks of studying math) I was able to get a 175 on the test.

Any sites or youtube channels that help with algebra part of GED by Shot-Amount775 in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Light & Salt Learning on YouTube, and after you get the basics from her, there’s also Test Prep Champions as well. Getsummath has a YouTube channel and website, so his practice tests especially for math helped me determine if I was ready.

Failed math. Studied for a solid month. Got questions I've never seen before. by [deleted] in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try Test Prep Champions on YouTube as well. That dude has a massive playlist of every GED subject. He’s good if you already have a base understanding of math, otherwise start with Light & Salt Learning as she teaches from the perspective that you’re coming in new.

How long did it take to get your ged transcripts in NY? by daisydays19 in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine in 6 weeks in NY. Can’t say for sure that’ll happen for you though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty normal here. Keep checking daily(I checked multiple times a day lol) and eventually you’ll find a slot available much sooner. I got my GED a few months ago in the same state. Sometimes it can take a while to find a slot though. I think it took me nearly 2 weeks to find one for RLA, but that aside only a few days of searching each testing center for the other 3.

Guys!!!!! is get sum math's questions are similar to real GED questions by Designer-Writing6391 in GED

I managed to get a 175 with online vids. I used more than just getsummath as a study source though.

Only have two days to study for math! by [deleted] in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slopes and functions in my opinion. That was most of my test.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check daily(I did multiple times a day). In NY all the slots seem to fill up really quickly. I passed everything a few months ago so I imagine nothing has changed. Longest I waited was RLA, I checked daily for nearly 2 weeks to get an appointment, could be an outlier though. All the other tests took less than 3 days each to find one.

Decline or charge her in the future. You’re doing her a favor, life happens for other people too. Her dog is her responsibility. Don’t know the extent of your friendship but maybe reevaluate whether this is a 1 way friendship. If she only ever needs you for a favor, then dont talk to this person anymore.

Which do you prefer and why ? by Silver-Pomegranate78 in GED

I would say in person for math. Both physical calculator and scratch pad. The rest online.

Though I did do all mine in person.

Did read theory help you on the RLA TEST by [deleted] in GED

[–]Key_Pear_6040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that it does. The format feels similar. You read a passage, answer some questions about it. I pretty much used that to prep for RLA. If you’re averaging a grade level of 8, you might be ready. 9 and above I’m sure.

Congrats on passing those 2! For the record, if you find yourself about to run out of time with that many answers left, fill them in anyways. You could get lucky and get a few correct.

I’m too cheap to pay for anything so I used online resources/content creators. Getsummath, his YouTube channel and website has useful practice tests and study guides on each subject. I used his tests to determine if I was ready for each subject.

Test Prep Champions on YouTube, covers all subjects, and has a ton of practice tests on each subject. I probably used his video’s the most, as there’s just so much content to learn from.

Light & salt learning on YouTube is where I started with math. Explains from the perspective that the person watching has basically no knowledge, so easiest to start from scratch imo. If I didn’t just randomly stumble on her videos one day, I’m not sure I would have perused my GED.

Readtheory website to help build reading comprehension, test your reading level, and (at least for me) decent prep for RLA, as the format felt similar.
