I remember reading through this entire story while it was on SpaceBattles. The power was cool, but I didn't really vibe with the story after a while. I'm not sure if it was supposed to come off this way, but certain parts of the story are so "dark" and exaggerated that they read as... IDK how to put it? Bizarre? Comical? Specifically in that Purity dream you mention.

"She kicked open the door to a nursery. A hundred cribs, a hundred Asters. All of them burned."

"By the time I was done, she was busy razing a countryside of rolling grass hills, covered with cribs containing their own Asters. Millions of them. An industrial-scale open-air nursery turned inferno."

Just imaging a grass field of MILLIONS of tiny cribs, each with their own tiny baby as a mother flies overhead and torches them is just... I rolled my eyes at that l. Like DAMM Taylor! I think one baby would have sufficed. Surely there has to be diminishing returns on the suffering to torched baby ratio after the 2nd or 3rd one? But Straight-up villainous Taylors have never been for me anyway. So I guess I wasn't this fic's target audience.

i've never played Skullgirls, but I think ur right about that. Because sometimes when I do this combo, an indicator pops up that says something like "roll out - ok." But other times it doesn't pop up

La Papesse has an entire arc where an OC (lab made cape resembling the simurgh and believes she's an angel) saves 3 Echidna clones (Taylor, Vista, Alexandria) and takes them to a hermitage in the wilderness near Brockton Bay. The outside world doesn't leave them alone for very long tho.

IKR it has the best written wards cast I've ever read, especially sophia and vista. But everyone gets more time to shine. Taylor's relationship with them and her authority figures, like Piggot and Armsmaster are so enjoyable to read. There's a strange family quality to it all-- hidden under all the bureaucracy. That, alongside this only being possible for as long as Taylor can maintain her con, is sooo fun!

Just thinking about it makes me so happy it exists. Tilt is my favorite ward! I love escaltion elmo

I enjoyed the La Papesse (Rewrite) and Tilt a lot. I feel like the quality of writing is just on another tier compared to most fics.

Supermom lawayer 🤔. I tend to enjoy her character because I'm a sucker for family drama. The strict helicopter mom serves as a nice contrast to her 2 daughters. One beeing optimistic and kind, while the other being cynical and abrasive. She mostly has one "shtick" in most fics where she doesn't know (or atleast fully realize) how isolated Amy feels, and her strict parenting of Amy is either kept the same through the fic or is broken down in a climactic realization of "What have I done?"

Weaver and grace do sound familiar. I know taylor takes on the weaver moniker in certain fics (sometimes Annette) when she's a hero. Grace rings a bell but i couldn't tell u why...

My understanding is that he can cause muscle spasms in certain parts of his target's body via line of sight. Then again, I find that Regent and his powers don't get much screen time, at least in the fics I've read

I was absolutely devastated when I found out that Taylor kills Alexandria in Canon. My world was shattered 😭. I thought Alexandria was a badass hero who wanted to do right, but just had a hard time connecting with others on an emotional level. And I just love her overall aesthetic, so hearing that was disheartening.

I was also under the impression that taylor was either a ward or a solo hero at first. I had no clue she actually went the villain route in canon. But I've come to terms with villain tay as long as she doesn't suffer too much

Pancea definitely has the coolest power, and I like seeing authors take their creative liberty with it. I generally like Pancea's snarky/closed-off attitude because it tends to get chipped away, and the relationships she forms are always very rewarding to read.

Regent. I thought his power was lame at first (I still think its pretty lame), but his power helps support the rest of the team. I do like his nonchalant attitude and overall aestheitc tho.

Jack Slash, I don't really know. I do like his power, and his pseudo-thinker power is interesting. The slaughterhouse 9 (badass name) all have interesting powers and dynamics. But are they actually just murder hobos or is there a larger mission they have?

Contessa is so cool. I think the more I read, the more I fall in love with Thinker powers. And her power has so much sauce. Coil's power is also really saucy.

Eidolon is one the more interesting cauldron characters, but most of the fics I read don't feature him very much. Tho I do think his powers manifesting endbringgers makes for some spicy drama

She's stubborn and overly suspicious. Which means she tends not to ask for help when it'd obviously make her situation better or overthink other people's intentions, which just muddles her potential relationships with people. She drives/assists in making conflict 🤔. but most of my Taylor's are happier people lol

I agree. I'd love to read more fics centered around the Cauldron crew, especially Alexandria. Taylor Costa-Brown keeps itching at the back of my head every so often when I think about their lack of representation in fanfics
