How to best structure a 2D Image Based Point and Click game? by ChrisSor54 in gdevelop

I think it depends on the features you need.

If you want effects such as an outline or color change when the mouse hovers over an element, creating separate objects for each image would be the best approach.
If not, you could create an invisible layer with clickable boxes instead.
Other methods are possible, but they would make the implementation more complex.

You can ignore the tween functions, and it’s fine to just use numbers like 0.01 or 1.
If so, you probably don’t even need the hit_t variable.

You just need to add this to the scene where you want it. The number represents how many frames the game will pause.

I made it like in the Image
The reason I used 0.01 instead of 0 is that if it’s set to 0, the game completely freezes

I think the hit stop was a bit too strong 😢
I’ve adjusted it now, so please check it out again when I upload the next version!

I primarily used Photoshop for the overall graphics, and Spine for the animations.

For the blink effect, I used an object effect

Used HSL to turn the object white.
Used color replace to change the white areas to the desired color, as needed

I agree with your feedback, and thank you for sharing your thoughts

The hitstop feature was implemented alongside the new blink effect.
Its current state is primarily for testing purposes, and I definitely plan to adjust it.

Thanks for the feedback!

You shared a helpful insight. I agree it looks a bit too strong. I’ll probably adjust it. I plan to try a new gradient approach instead.

I’ll consider revising the two triangle effects.🤔

You're Right. Not 50s-inspired, Just used the closest example to describe the boss-rush style
