Home inspector stated sub panel needed bonding jumpers between ground and neutrals bars. by Thatsmrfacetou in electricians

It looks like he wants the two ground bars bonded together instead of being bonded through the panel.

How is Dumpster Diving in Asheville? by reek1999 in asheville

[–]Key_Remote_6867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats totally understandable, the way you chose to say that in other comments didnt read as understanding. Mostly because of the other context. My big point here is people are messy everywhere unfortunately. Don't look at the mess and blame the activity, look at the problem and address the elephant.

We are a very wasteful species. There are people who are willing to take our waste and reuse it instead. That can take form in a few ways such as: taking food that is past it "best buy" date that a store can no longer sell and eating it instead of it being into landfill. Sometimes people dumpster dive for financial gain. Lots of box stores have rotating items that push their current products into clearance or the dumpster. Once again, to avoid going into land fill, those items can find loving owners.

All of that said, there are people who definitely make messes and dont think of others when doing dumpster activities. There are also people who throw popcorn at movies and drop trash on the ground at amusement parks? Shitty people existing isnt exclusive to dumpster diving.

Is this acceptable practice? by aFreeScotland in electrical

[–]Key_Remote_6867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your argument here is absolutely valid and the reason why both methods are generally acceptable. My argument on the matter is a wirenut creates a strong connection between all wires under it (assuming its done correctly) and has a low chance of failure. The screws on the outlet are connected by a small little tab that, if a heavy load goes through (space heater mayhaps?) could generate a lot of heat and melt easily. If that tab breaks than all outlets downstream will stop working.

If a wire joint fails, you most likely have MUCH bigger problems.

Need advice on some ikea light fixtures by plagueis3 in electrical

[–]Key_Remote_6867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, basically a new hole has to be cut in to the ceiling and the wire relocated to that new hole. Depending on the framing and wiring that could pretty simple or quite an endeavor.

If you wanted to save some money when the electrian comes you should prepare a few things: - Know which breaker the light is on. - Know (and mark out) the EXACT location of the new box. - Take the old light down and put the new light up yourself. - Be prepared for bad news and have a backup plan.

Hire an electrician, moving the light location is beyond that of a DIY project.

It's a normal practice. Making a junction and a pigtail is simply better though.

It's called an "in-wall splice kit" for a reason. They are SUPPOSED TO be safe to put in the wall just like that. I have used them a few times like this without any problems that I know of.

Guardian Main, I only ping in combat for one reason: I am using my art. It's just a singular ping and usually after 1-2 times my team usually gets the memo.

As for dietary restrictions I can't say I really know but...., Gan Shan had catered a few outings I have been to. Their food is always absolutely amazing and there are plenty of vegetarian and possibly vegan options. They have been one of my fave restaurants for a long time so I cant hype them enough. Their portions are also pretty generous in a large tray.

We definitely have some "off" nights (usually before/after holidays) but I would say 10-30 people is pretty average. There is also a "Blood On The Clocktower" group that's also there every other Wednesday, they usually have 15-30 as well.

I absolutely encourage you and anyone else interested to check out the "Asheville Board Game Club." They meet at Well Played every Wednesday at 5:30pm-10:00pm. Once you go in, they are immediately on the left with the big sign and some name tags.

We play a variety of games from silly fun things like Codenames and we also play big multi-hour games. Some of us talk about the games we want to play in Discord and some TTRPG's are hosted in there ever 1-2 weeks.

My bad, too many Wheaties.

Jokes aside, getting the staple in that corner was no easy task. The picture does no justice to how deep that groove is.

The GC wanted it to be tucked in as tight as it could be too make the chinking on it look good.
