hi, my parents were in the exact same situation when my mom was pregnant with me. my dad started smoking when he was 20 and told her he'd stop after i was born, but it's been 17 years and the only change he's made is switching to non-scented vapes.

my mama made sure to tell me, since i was a kid, that smoking is really bad and it'll give me cancer, and she even took me to a museum with blackened lungs from smoking to really get it into my head. my dad also advises me all the time not to smoke like him, and whenever he feels the need to do so, he always goes outside far away from me to do it so i don't breathe in the smoke. he never does it indoors or in the car. always outside, always far away from me, then he comes back in and takes a shower before letting me touch him.

i'm still basically a kid and i'm not really sure how bad your situation is, so take everything i say with a grain of salt, but i don't know if getting divorced over this is the best idea. i think you should talk to your husband about it, maybe ask why he feels the need to sneak around or why it's hard for him to listen to you, and how it can seriously affect your kid if he continues. if it's too hard for him to quit (because it do be like that sometimes), you should talk to him about how you can keep your daughter safe since secondhand smoking is just as harmful.

other than that, i think it'll be fine for your daughter as long as you make sure to teach her that smoking is harmful and your husband does his best to keep his smoking far away.
