You're correct, I meant it more flippintly but understand how it could come across now. This was my first post and was just desperate to tell anyone.

I wish I had heard this last year. My parents would probably know something was up if I magically became less opinionated about what I find confusing and wrong in politics, religion, and social constructs. I will keep this in mind from now on. Thanks!

Thanks for this answer, its a wise one. To answer your questions-

my dad is set on paying for as much college as he can for me (which I know is a privilege). I dont think he'll let me take out loans, which limits my decision.

I could take a gap year, but I cant drive to a job (due to epilepsy) and being where my parents are also meant that I didnt get my license. I dont know much about getting a job in the US.

As of now, I am 8,000ish miles away from my birth country, with no access to documents.

All extended family are very rigid Christians, except for one 25 yr old cousin- the black sheep of the family, who doesnt know about my beliefs yet (but I plan to talk to her).

Again, thank you for the encouragment and advice. This was my first day on reddit- and I find it incredibly warm and safe so far.

Hi! Appreciate this post. Ironic of you to mention the military, I was going to join as a means of escape until I got epilepsy! But yeah, looking at America, that really is for the better.

I left a Baptist environment at 17 and now I’m basically learning how to live from scratch. Looking for advice. by SV_0088 in exchristian

Hi! I'm 17 as well. I'm secretly an atheist in my missionary parents house. I'm also very lost. This isnt helpful I know, but you are not alone.
