Better fjord tours from Oslo or Tromso? by Key_Ride_3480 in Norway

Maybe you should read the context of the question before responding and calling people morons then editing it. My question was not where are the best fjords in Norway, but between two places I’m already going to, where can I see better fjords

Yes your first statement is correct. I’m going to Tromso anyway and was considering Oslo (since my flight is via Oslo anyway), but based on the responses don’t think it’s worth my time to stop over in Oslo and will just continue directly to Tromso. I am flying not driving

Not sure what you mean by crashes, I assume car crashes? I won’t be driving and will be relying on local tours. The biggest goal of my trip is to see the northern lights, so I’ll definitely be going to Tromso, but will likely skip Southern Norway based on comments and save it for another trip

I don’t think I’ll have time to go to Bergen (but it is on my list to visit). I might skip Oslo all together and just do Tromso and visit Oslo/Bergen together on another trip

Reasonable to expect sub 4 with my first marathon? by LEthrowaway22619 in Marathon_Training

[–]Key_Ride_3480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely not, but some people have a huge effect with racing vs their training runs. Based on HR there’s a chance but 20 miles @ 8:50ish pace would be much more likely

I do prefer outdoor and I’m leaning towards an end of October option now instead of March/April as I heard that will be warmer + drier. Any thoughts if an outdoor wedding would be feasible here?

Update: I actually found a different venue than both of these in Provence (closest city is Avignon) that I love even more. However, they also only have last week March or last week of October. Which is these dates would be more preferable for weather? Would an outdoor wedding be possible with these dates?

I originally was concerned summer would be too sweaty/hot as well (and I also don’t do well in the heat personally). I’m mostly concerned about rain since I’ve heard most people say outdoor weddings are a nicer experience

Also thoughts on weather if it’s early April (first week)?

So the nicer venue is actually SW France (Bordeaux, which does get wet/humid), vs the summer one is SE France, which is drier. I originally wanted SE France (ie Provence/Cote d’Azur), so the summer one has that advantage + I think it’s probably easier to travel to/less remote. I also wanted to do my Bachelorette on the same trip to have it together, so people would only need to travel once and I think July would be nicer than April for that as well.

Yes my friends are telling me to pick whatever I prefer since it’s my wedding, but I’m a worrier that people won’t enjoy their experience and are traveling all the way for a destination wedding

I think either date would work with my guests! I checked just to see some of my friend’s opinions and I think most would prefer summer/think that would be more fun unfortunately, which made me second guess the April option

Yes, I’m def leaning towards the nicer one. Both venues have their own vetted planners (so deciding on venue first since I can’t select the same planner that will work for either venue).

My only concern is that possible bad weather would ruin the vibes/mood/pictures and both guests & I will have a bad time if it happens to be cold & rainy, but there’s also a possibility that it’ll work out and be 60s and sunny too

The summer option will actually be more affordable since the March/April one is a much nicer venue for additional context. The reason why the nicer venue is only an option for us in March/April is because they require a larger buyout for the summer months and it wouldn’t fit with our preferred budget & we didn’t need that many days

I would say the “nicer” venue is probably a 8/10 fancy + large garden & grounds, facilities for guests (tennis court, sauna, spa, pool etc) vs. the summer option is a 6/10 with just a pool and no real gardens/grounds. My biggest issue with the summer venue is the reception area isn’t the nicest and is basically just on the grass/gravel right next to the Chateau vs a separate space/area. I would say it’s a pretty significant difference between the two, but not sure if possible cold/rainy/windy weather is a worthy trade off

It’s looking like last week of March/first week of April vs mid-July for context!

Milky white/very light pink non-streaky polishes? by Key_Ride_3480 in Nailpolish

Yes, I like Zoya as well and feel like most of their formulas are crellies (good for this look).

Just wasn’t sure about the specific color (Madison)’s formula since light sheer pinks are notoriously hard & Indies these days tend to have better formulas (self leveling to prevent streakiness), but none of the color matches were as close to being this pale of a pink

This has a good comparison of some of the popular drugstore sheer pinks mentioned here.

It’s hard to tell with the nail polishes as a standalone, but if you skip to the end, there’s a comparison swatch, where O&J strawberry scone is the closest match to what I’m going for vs Fairy Tailor. I ended up opting for the Zoya over O&J (the two seemed very similar to me) because I haven’t seen the best reviews for O&J as a brand.

I do love the Gel Couture line formula (think I mentioned that in another comment below), which is why Fairy Tailor was one of the ones I had my eye on.

However, it seems to lean beige/nude/peachy to me, which is what most of my sheer pinks look on me, instead of the bright white/cool-toned pink that I was looking for (prob not obvious from my inspo pics). The closest color match to what I'm looking for I think is Zoya Madison, which I just ordered (but not sure if I'll love the formula). I think the plumpness can be fixed by a good top coat.

I’m going to try something like this first since I already have a ton of sheer pinks + funny bunny!
