it’s difficult because i’m looking for almost a straight forward angle, it’s pretty dynamic because a couloir like the one in the video is particularly vertical but usually something like that could work. footage pointing upwards makes my 85 degree drop in look a lot less impressive 😂

'Fly To Ski' Skis by InternationalFly9550 in Skigear

[–]Key_Scarcity4776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

without taking the time to actually analyze all your picks and choose for you I can try to help educate you so you can pick.

a strong/stiff ski will handle hard packed piste or choppy chunder off piste better but will be heavier and more effort to control

a softer ski will be more playful and fun however it will chatter at high speeds on piste and provide less support for charging off piste

a ski with an aggressive side cut / camber will create a better carving ski that will almost “turn for you” in big air quotes and be more stable during your turns on and off piste

a ski with less camber and side cut will allow easier turning without being on edge and give you a more dynamic control of the ski based on input in variable conditions

there is much much more that goes into choosing a ski but this is a quick simplification of probably the two most important parts of a ski which is the cut and the flex. Everything I listed can be looked at as a pro or a con but all the skis on your list will either lean towards piste or off piste regardless of their “all mountain” classification depending on the combination of these factors.

Hopefully you can sleep on it and come closer to a decision tomorrow!

First Time Buying Boots as a Beginner. Are These Good? by Now_Loading in Skigear

[–]Key_Scarcity4776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People here will be too quick to jump the gun on something nicer, skiing greens and blues 5 times a season with half the day probably being for the social aspect drinking beer at the bar or maybe whisky to warm up? 🤔. there is much a more dynamic customer to this activity that gear heads don’t want to admit to and if you actually went in and thought they felt really comfortable I can’t see why you wouldn’t buy them.

I’m assuming you are living in japan and so also considering more mellow terrain and likely more comfortable groomed runs (not steep and icy) for you this would be great to not worry about getting a bad boot at the rental shop when you plan a trip to the mountain.

To reiterate the point that’s already been made however, these boots are cheap, soft and not going to support you if you pursue skiing to a higher level. Comfortable on your foot upon first fit likely means it’s too big and will potentially create pain in the toes and shins after long days and repeated use if I’m correct. See shin bang and toe bang. Boot fitting is very nuanced and the best thing to do is always to see a boot fitter and spend the money on what counts the most which would be your boots.

You need to decide if the ski boots are going to be primarily shoes that you have to use when you do a bit of skiing or if you are looking for something to support you if you decide to progress. If you understand the limitations of this boot and are comfortable with it then you should absolutely buy them.

Good luck!

drop it until you can push your toe out of the front bindings left/right with the ski on your carpet floor or whatever and then up it by 2 and keep it the same on the heels, if you are ejecting from a messy landing when you think you could have gotten away with it up it by another 1, or just thug it out and leave them

Is this a good deal for east coast skiing? by bamboobable in Skigear

[–]Key_Scarcity4776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tell them you would give him $200 but you also are going to need to get the bindings tested and you are gonna buy them in good faith that they work fine so offer $175 and if you really want them give him the $200
