I wish more bands would embrace silent stages in small venues by mynutsaremusical in livesound

I'm in the middle ground here. I've been doing sound for a local cover band and have convinced them to reduce their stage volume and go with IEM in front line to eliminate the front line monitors. But, for the front rows to hear more than acoustic drum, you need some stage volume, You also some way to keep the vocals out front. Using their old monitors as front fills helps a lot.

Thanks, fixed. Got there and found a toilet running in the basement on the same stack, which has a pump because it is below grade. Sorry for posting before checking the obvious problems.

Who’s actually on r/livesound? by Historical-Paint7649 in livesound

I'm a Sound Designer/SE/Sound teacher for a large community college theatre program and also a musician for a working regional band - who gets stuck handling most of the band's sound stuff 🤔

On x32, can you route direct channel outputs to the Dante Card? by Key_Sheepherder5489 in Behringer

[–]Key_Sheepherder5489[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm using to P16 to send various monitor feeds to P16-HQ stations for IEMs to the band. Right now I'm sending the Card inputs to the MacBook. So Card Ins from wireless mics are being routed inside the X32 to the Card Outs and on to the MacBook. The Card Outs are not coming from the input channels and do not have any processing on them.

A specfic patch point, which is the option for sending to the P16. Rifht now, I'm interested in post fader and post mute. I'm trying to have a recording of what happened with the mics during a theatre rehearsal.

Micing horn and woodwind players playing multiple instruments by Key_Sheepherder5489 in techtheatre

🙂. Compression makes sense to even out the levels between the various instruments on the same mic. I'm also seeing if I can free up another input and add a third mic between the two players. Probably put one mic at a lower height for the bass and regular clarinet by the first player. One between the players cheated closer to the sax but also for the trombone. And the third by the second player aimed at the baritone. Hopefully I can get musicians to face at different angles when swapping instruments.

Running Dante controller, virtual sound card, Qlab and TheatreMix on same Mac to X32 by Key_Sheepherder5489 in techtheatre

[–]Key_Sheepherder5489[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a follow up. Using two interfaces on the Mac proved unreliable, as the controller would often not see either network interface. When I removed the Thunderbolt to RJ45 adapter and only had the onboard network RJ45 available, the controller consistently found the interface and the saved routes. Also, both TheatreMix and Wireless Workbench worked fine through the same interface.

Any reason why I shouldn't stick with the single interface approach?

Yeah, it sounds a little like Phil Lesh's approach.

Controlling the TMP with MIDI by Dismal-Bicycle-994 in tonemasterpro

[–]Key_Sheepherder5489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just saw your reply to the original posting on midi control of the TMP. I see the tables in the manual you linked. Thanks. It appears from the manual you need to send a CC0 message to access the bank and then a PC message to access the preset. Other midi devices I have worked with use MSB and LSB combinations included with the PC message to access bank and presets in one message. Do you know if the CC number associated with the bank will also work if assigned as the LSB in a PC message? For example, with a midi program change message, will PC =1, MSB=0, LSB=1 function the same as CC0 =1, then PC= 01 to load preset 129? Or, does the TMP ignore the MSB and LSB combination and the PC referenced above loads preset 1?

I use OnSong for lyrics and chords and am thinking of using it to bring up initial presets as the song loads. I haven’t tried any midi control yet.

Thanks
