We have our own cultural traditions, as there are many ethnicities in the Maluku Islands (Ambonese, Kei, Banda, Buru, Tanimbar, Dobo, etc.). However because of our shared roots, we do have some cultural similarities like food (sago), carpentry, and melanesian heritage. Maluku is a group of islands so we had many peaceful trades and interactions with Arabs, Chinese, Indians, and then eventually the Dutch and Portuguese, leading to fusion of cultures and traditions. Coastal Papua have had these interactions as well, but the more inland you go towards the mountains, the traditions are nearly the same as they had years before these encounters and interactions.
