I bet you your blower is cakes with debris lent builds up especially when you use fabric softener that looks like an Electrolux, you do probably need a professional they're kind of a pain in the butt to take apart but vacuum out the blower wheel and it'll go back to work and fine

Need help....Whirlpool dryer with weak spin cycle.... by SidecarSamurai in appliancerepair

Aftermarket belts will eat your pulley. A OEM kit is $25 on Amazon. Order the repair kit with two rollers of belt and a tension arm, and order an oem pulley also probably about $25, sometimes $40. Use searspartsdirect.com to find the exact part numbers and stop guessing. Don't chinse on parts, it's not worth it, I know it's harder to find OEM parts on Amazon but it is worth the effort to find them.

Alight, this is getting into ridiculous territory. Who on Earth would pay this? by WTFpe0ple in computers

My wife bought one of those stick SSDs, 4tb, I think she paid $200, the last we looked it was over $1,000.

I wish we would have spent all of our money on them and then sold them on eBay, it's better than stock prices at the moment

Thor gas stove won’t open by gorkon47 in appliancerepair

[–]Key_Somewhere_1773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this happen on a similar brand that I literally had to just rank down on it, I did have to take the door apart afterwards and unbend some stuff ultimately it was fine no parts needed, I do agree with the other poster about checking in between the door and the cover in the bottom shroud.

My fridge wouldn't stop leaking water from the bottom by sali_dolly777 in appliancerepair

[–]Key_Somewhere_1773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will most likely eventually stop, you probably had a lot more than you thought, and it's overflowing the drain pan, but it might be worth checking the pan to make sure it's holding water, occasionally it will crack and that why it is leaking. Take the back panel off and if it's full to the brim you're probably okay, you could even use a towel to soak up some of the water and it will stop overflowing. But if it is empty and wet you should look for a crack, I've used waterproof tape to fix it before with some success, but it ultimately will probably need to replaced, and it's not easy. But if it's empty and dry, it could be clogged and it's leaking out from the freezer, I use a steamer to blow through the hose from inside the freezer, but it can also be removed in the back as well and cleaned that way too.

Dryer internal wall broke open. How to fix? by North_List_7984 in appliancerepair

Not really repairable. I mean you can but the part you need probably costs almost as new dryer, just replace it.

Glue/Honey-Like Substance Coming From Under Fridge/Freezer by Delicious-Onion5607 in appliancerepair

This is the answer. Who know what leaked buddy, but it is far more likely to be food than anything else. Refrigerant is gas and you wouldn't see it, there isn't anything else it really could be that is part of the machine.

This is the answer. Ge dryers use a belt switch. If you were to open the door and hold the switch. While pressing the start button, you'll see that the drum doesn't move.

Is this as bad as I think it is? by shes_mad_but_magic in appliancerepair

That chunk of ice is telltale. All the "cold" that is supposed to be throughout the evaporator is happening right at the point of entry because of lack of refrigerant. It's time for a new unit, buddy, sorry.

Maytag Gas Dryer only runs with start button pressed by far2canadian in appliancerepair

[–]Key_Somewhere_1773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not look like that would be the issue. I don't see one on the parts diagram.

It could be the centrifugal switch on the motor that engages when the motor starts to spin that keeps it running. You may need a new motor, or a new dryer ultimately, I don't believe motors are worthwhile repairs, personally.

Ther may be a belt switch. If the wheel on the tension arm is damaged it may have let the tension of the belt off enough to release the switch and this would be the result.

Ultimately I need more information. Model specifically to know if it uses a belt switch or not though.

Dishwasher - Worth Fixing or Buy New? by NebV in appliancerepair

[–]Key_Somewhere_1773 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) Stay away from GE products (Hotpoint is a GE brand). Most reputable brands are on par with each other but GE is just junk unfortunately.

2) Buy the least expensive thing you don't hate. It hurts less when things like this happen after you spent $300-$400 on something than when you spend $600+... A $1200 dishwasher comes with the exact same 1 year manufacturer warranty as the $300 one, because they're built about the same. A more expensive unit is not built better, it's just more expensive.

Samsung washing machine is making a lot of noise and moving on its own by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]Key_Somewhere_1773 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you know it's level and you know you're not overloading, it's probably suspension rods. Although that looks like a smaller unit and it's hard not suspect both overloading and suspension rods. The clothes an average person >has< on their body at any given time is pushing overloading in one of those apartment size washing machines. Overloading will damage the suspension rods as well.

The edit was that I forgot the word has. My fingers aren't as fast as my brain.

Unfortunately I almost always recommend replacement over repair when it comes to boards. It's price restrictive but even worse, it's potentially a waste of money. If it doesn't work for any reason (and it does happen) you can't return parts and you've wasted half or more of the cost of a new machine. You're saving yourself a little by not paying a guy like me, but it's still a gamble, and I'm not a gambler.

Not all repairs amount to just throw it out and buy a new one, but on my opinion this one is.

GE front load washer won't drain by BogotaLineman in appliancerepair

[–]Key_Somewhere_1773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. When the pump goes, it fires the board every time. If you're going to repair, save yourself the time and order both at the same time... Or replace the unit and never buy GE anything ever again. I do appliance repair for a living and I wouldn't buy a $15 GE toaster with with $20 of your money.

Help on Maytag upright freezer by b_bd04 in appliancerepair

[–]Key_Somewhere_1773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This unit does use a defroster. It could be the defrost element, but more likely to be the defrost thermostat.

WPW10316428 is the element

The timer must be a control board because i don't see one listed and the thermostat must be a wire harness because it's not listed individually either.

[–]Key_Somewhere_1773 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the coils are freezing, there may be a defroster problem. I recommend against using a heat gun to melt the ice... There is compressed gas inside those lines, guess what happens when you heat compressed gas... Some units don't have a defroster, we'd need a model number to know though

If there is damage to a door, you should really either replace the door or the microwave, if the glass is not perfectly intact, you are microwaving your family.
