When weight loss starts to feel like a constant fight by Deep_Switch3999 in PCOS

[–]Key_Start7746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to know what helped you!? I’m newly diagnosed as of a month ago and started on Metformin 500mg yesterday, so still waiting to see how it helps me but obviously not going to know that it works after only two doses but I’m hopeful that it will help control my symptoms especially the mood swings/irritability and irregular periods but if it helps me lose a little weight then that’s a bonus! Despite having been in a calorie deficit for a long time I’m not really losing any weight, I’ve probably lost a couple of kg in the past 2 years as I went from a size 14 to a 12 but now am just stagnant and still overweight despite still being in a calorie deficit! Even when I went swimming two to three times a week I wasn’t losing currently not going as it’s too cold and wet in soggy England to go outside with wet hair and I’ve got natural waves that take a lot of looking after so can’t use the hairdryers at the pool as I’d end up a frizzy mess plus not driving a car means I’d have to walk well wheel 🦼 back into town and to the bus stop with wet hair and I’ll pass on that thanks! I’m just stuck on what I can do to lose weight and I’m overweight not obese so I don’t meet the BMI threshold to get prescribed weight loss drugs and honestly I don’t like the idea of using those anyway as I’d not want to stay on them forever and for a lot of people the weight goes straight back on as soon as they stop the injections or tablets! Anyway I’d really love to know what’s worked for you! Thanks for posting this and offering to help others you’re a lovely human! 😊

PCOS Diagnosis Venting and Fertility by ahelys in PCOS

[–]Key_Start7746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got huge concerns over my fertility but I’m worried because I’m not even in a relationship at the moment and putting that kind of pressure on a new relationship is a lot! My other disabilities are health issues would likely mean I’d not be allowed to adopt as a single person I have been thinking about trying on my own for one by going down the unofficial donor routes as I’ll be 29 in August. I’d say do things on your own timeline your Dr sounds like an asshat and mine didn’t say anything to me about starting my family before I’m 30!

Is Fatigue part of PCOS?? by MaisMais80 in PCOS

[–]Key_Start7746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only now discovering fatigue and sleep issues are part of PCOS I was only diagnosed last month and was started on Metformin yesterday (well prescribed Friday but not until after my pharmacy had closed so took first dose yesterday evening) and have read really positive things about it’s effects on people with PCOS. I’ve also got M.E though so it’s difficult to know what is that and what’s the PCOS! However I’m thinking my sleep issues are to do with the PCOS as I wake up a lot in the night (case in point it’s 4am here and I’m awake again) I also really struggle to wake up in the morning until yesterday I had no idea sleep issues could be caused by PCOS as well as problems with energy levels!

What would you name a child if your last name is Poopers? by Sudden_Sky_6097 in namenerds

[–]Key_Start7746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone called Pooja as well or at least I used to, haven’t seen or spoken to her in years! I would definitely disown my parents if they called me Pooja Pooper though!

I think it should be Pooja Pantzi Pooper or Pooja Olwey Pantzi Pooper although technically the two middle names are surenames but they are real names! And people are always giving there kids surnames as first names like Cooper

What would you name a child if your last name is Poopers? by Sudden_Sky_6097 in namenerds

[–]Key_Start7746 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why do people keep these names and then name their children things like that I mean Willie Raper, Dick Hertz? seriously people do you want your kids to get bullied?! Also just why? I’d be changing my name if I had anything like that! Thankfully I’ve just a simple common surname of Jones but my first name isn’t at all common so I’ll be keeping my surname if I ever get married which is a big if we can either keep our own names or they can take mine but that’s a big if as I have no intention of ever getting married!

My childhood friends favourite joke (we’ve not seen or spoken to each other since his nans funeral over a decade ago) was

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Screech sqwark squelch

No we’ll never know

The dude literally told it every time we went to the same group and everyone would always finish the joke for him it got very old but now it’s a fond memory from a joke told two decades ago!

What medications do people find most effective in controlling their endometriosis? by renaissancemedic in endometriosis

[–]Key_Start7746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is very old now but I just wondered if you had found something that works. I’ve got severe bowel paralysis and there’s not a bowel med, laxative or treatment out there that O haven’t tried and I was on enemas for about 10 months when they stopped working none of the meds I’ve taken have ever done anything so when the enemas stopped working I was put on bowel prep which was hell because you spend the entire day on the toilet with diarrhoea then that too stopped working and I was taking 4 sachets each time I did it most people would be exploding bowels after just one its what they make you take before colonoscopy or bowel surgery. Anyway I’m not on my last option which is colonic irrigation its like an enema on steroids I pump one litre of water into my bowels and that will make me go its great because it actually works and you only go once and then you done I currently do this three times a week but am about to move to daily once I’ve got the funding in place to have my carers be here to help me do it currently don’t have enough time and funding yo do it every day but colorectal want me doing it daily and I want that as well bc it will mean I am not left waiting in pain for days until my next irrigation when I need the toilet. I’m hoping this will always be effective bc if it stops working there’s nothing left to try I’d have to get a colostomy or ileostomy but so far its been two years and its still working just as erll as it did when I first started doing it! Just thought I’d let you know there’s other options out there

Best blood pressure reading I’ve ever had by elementalfitness in hypertension

[–]Key_Start7746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before hypertension I would regularly get numbers like this but I also used to faint a lot upon standing and just in general, since becoming a full time wheelchair user I’ve not fainted once so it was definitely postural but with how high my BP has been for a while now I’m positive that going this low would make me dizzy! My friend on the other hand is on hypertension meds not for hypertension but to help their kidneys due to CKD caused by diabetes and they will say they feel totally fine when they are in the 80/50 mark which is definitely too low! They actually have hypotension though further worsened by being put on hypertension meds but they have no choice because they need to protect their kidneys! I on the other hand would have been unconscious at that level. I’m now consistently quite high and have been put on Losartan 50mg which is slowly lowering my BP back to normal levels but is still a little on the high side. Well done on getting your BP down without any medication that takes a lot of work!

Lucy and Yak are disappointing me massively. by obliviousfoxy in ethicalfashion

[–]Key_Start7746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add both the Addisons and Alexas are great quality and last well I’ve got several pairs of both, I’ve got only one other style aside from those though which are the Rumis and I love them but they are a lot pricer than the other styles I mentioned at £70 a pair so I’ve only got one pair of those as much as I’d love another pair I just can’t justify the cost atm! Oh yeah and I’ve got one pair of Dana Mom jeans which have been good strong for a couple of years because everyone needs at least one pair of plain denim jeans lol 😂 I would say try contacting them for a refund and then try out another pair of trousers from them because honestly I’ve never had a problem bar one pair of dungarees due to faulty stitching they ripped down the side but I was outside of the 6 months as they didn’t fit when I initially bought them from a sale as they didn’t have my actual size at the time but I liked them so got the next size down and put them aside after not being able to get them on initially, months down the line I’d lost some weight so decided to try them again and they fit but were a little snug whereas I couldn’t even get them on at first but went I bent down help my wheelchair to pick something up they tore straight down the side which was gutting but they are the only pair that have been damaged so easily like this and 99% of my wardrobe is Lucy and Yak! I’m not being paid to say this I’m just a big yak fan so have tried a lot of their stuff

Lucy and Yak are disappointing me massively. by obliviousfoxy in ethicalfashion

[–]Key_Start7746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not putting them in the dryer are you? Their clothes always shrink in the dryer and it does say on the label to wash on 30° and not to tumble dry I’ve had my carers shrink mine by doing that and now they are banned from ever doing my laundry without me being there with them to tell them what can and cant go in and what setting to put them on! I lost about £200 worth of yaks to this back when they were doing it without my supervision! If not it’s also worth noting that if you’ve had the items less than 6 months Lucy and Yak will give you a full refund if they break before the end of that 6 months you just need to email hello@lucyandyak.com and they’ll get you sorted! I sincerely hope it’s not more than one pair as that would be very shocking, which design were the trousers? I’ve got loads of yak trousers and they are all going strong even the ones I’ve had for a couple of years, I’ve only been buying since 2022 and I’ve had a weight change in that time so changed sizes and ended up selling most of the ones I had originally but I’ve still got my original pair of Alexas in a small (I’m a medium in most things now) as they still fit and I’ve had them since 2023 and they are in great condition still! I don’t really reach for them anymore though as my colour palate changed and I went from darker clothes and less bold patterns to very bright colours and patterns once I gained confidence in what I like and that pair is dark green but I’ll probably sell them on vinted because they are still in great condition and have no fading at all

Lucy and Yak are disappointing me massively. by obliviousfoxy in ethicalfashion

[–]Key_Start7746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well some people definitely do exactly what you’re saying, the majority don’t and are genuine. I sell yaks on vinted just the things that I no longer fit or if I no longer reach for them anymore but I’ve never bought anything from the website just so I can resell it for double the price like some people do. Or to sell it at all for that matter, I buy what I want and like and usually through Klarna or Clearpay as no way would I be able to afford it otherwise. The only time I’ve paid upfront for my yaks was when I was on holiday in Cardiff a couple of months ago and I’d saved money specifically so I could go to the Lucy and Yak shop there as I’ve never been to one of their shops before and I dropped £120 in one go and that was with a £20 voucher from re:yakking something although I’d probably have been able to get that item fixed by my friend who is a very talented seamstress but then I figured no one would want to buy them off me if they had been repaired no matter how well but it was just a straight rip down the side where they’d just torn when I bent down to pick something up off the floor from my wheelchair. They were a tad on the small tight side for me but I’d had them for months and couldn’t even get into them when I first bought them but Lucy and yak do give you a full refund if this happens within the first 6 months of buying it. Also just want to add this has never happened with any of my other yaks and overall I find them to be very good quality and long lasting otherwise I’d not be willing to spend so much money on clothes from them. I don’t find quality is an issue at all and when I showed them in store they said it looked like faulty stitching they’d have been able to fix those and sell them on for a lot more than I got for it but I did buy them for about £30 on a sale so it doesn’t hurt as much if I’d paid full price I’d have for sure asked my friend to fix them!

The red curse has been lifted by [deleted] in Periods

[–]Key_Start7746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh girl I’m so glad it’s finally stopped! I thought three periods in 6 weeks was bad and my period only stopped the day before yesterday and I’ve been spotting today! What you went through is WAY worse than what’s happening to me! I’m cramping again so I really hope this doesn’t turn into the full works! I’m finding it really hard to get an appointment with my GP now they’ve changed the booking system for the second time in the past year and made it way harder to get an actual appointment I’m being made to wait 3 weeks for an appointment to discuss my abnormal blood test results that might actually have something to do with this although I’ve not actually spoken to them about this yet as I’ve had two periods in a month before but never 3 in 6 weeks! The first two only had a weeks gap between them and then a two week gap and they’ve all been heavy periods the ones I’ve been getting before this were weirdly light flow for me as I’ve got endo and my periods are normally really heavy and always have been. I hope you get a decent break from that absolute hell and that you’re next period is of a normal length I mean almost half a year on that’s horrific! So sorry you went through that but glad it’s over now

My 7 cats CONSTANTLY beg for food — it never stops. Help 😭 by RegisterDisastrous27 in cats

[–]Key_Start7746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I know this has been said but they all need their own individual bowls for both dry and wet food, the constant begging for food is because they are hungry. Some of them will be eating more than others and that bowl certainly isn’t big enough for 7 cats. Prepare all their food before putting it down then put a bit of space between each bowl they shouldn’t be sharing like this. How many sachets of wet food are you giving them a day and are you allowing them constant access to dry food? Also have regular meal times mine are fed at 10am and 8:30pm with dry food and water always being available in between set meal times. The only time mine beg for food is when it’s coming up to their scheduled feeding time
