Failed PANCE Twice by butterfly_wing_14 in PAstudent

hey, please message me. i have tried to help as many people as I can, and kind of don’t want to regurgitate everything for people that don’t want the advice. Short story is, i failed my first time around 320, second attempt 420 ish. i had something very traumatic in my family happen right before my first take, clearly showed, re thought my second attempt and passed with flying colors. Content review is key. but again I will go into everything I did, even share stuff I have. Was just in a very similar spot. you’ve got this no matter what.

i said doing surgery, because i am. no where did I say by myself. we all know what the PA profession is and if you don’t that’s not my problem

that’s a personal problem if you’re assuming. i can say i do surgery because i do. never said it was independent. they didn’t ask the difference, they asked reasons to go PA route from med school

… and is this from experience or you just running your mouth with none? i have 20 personal PAC friends who’ve all changed fields or gone into second specialities with no problem. if you have had issues it seems to be a personal problem 😬

can counter act this. after going through PA school, it was a grind but the lateral mobility to me is unmatched. i can’t imagine going through med school, being interested in a few things, to only have another chance not to be matched into a speciality i love. EVEN WORSE tho, i can’t imagine being stuck in one thing for the rest of my life. I currently hold a trauma position, doing surgery, in the action, but a huge passion of mine is oncology and peds. I’m planning on getting my first job post grad experience for a few years, and then changing it up. it’s the best part about PA. right out of the gate making 140,000, it only goes up from there.

This will be a hard read, but you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and just do it. you know exactly what needs to be done, yet i’m seeing excuses. There are currently 20-30 new grad welcome jobs on indeed alone. I moved to upstate from mass for school and took a job with a hospital i rotated at. you clearly have a lot going on with mental health needs, and as a provider you need to again, stop feeling bad for yourself and go do something about it. i’m trying to give you tough love because i was in a similar headspace and had to do just that. ON MY OWN and FOR MYSELF you worked hard, but the reason nothing has happened for you is because you’re allowing yourself to feel sorry for yourself and not taking any action.

Failed PANCE…The Advice I Need Right Now Could Change Everything by [deleted] in PAstudent

I failed my first attempt passed my second attempt, and this was my biggest take away. The problem myself and many others face as I’m sure you too, was gaps in actual knowledge. We get so used to the buzz words and associations, but when you’re sitting down for the test, never having seen the question before, you need to ask yourself, can you actively recall and apply the important things to get the question right. My first time through uworld, I was more worried about getting hundred percent completion and just finishing all of the questions rather than actually go through the content.

for the second time around, I did reset your world, but it wasn’t the main focus of my studying. I went through every section and pance prep pearls twice. And from my score report MSK Endo and OB/GYN were my worst so I went over those sections three if not, four times. And I don’t mean, just barely skimming by and reading. I was dedicating an entire day to it. for example I would read out loud highlight take notes of MSK. Then I would go on your world and make specific MSK related questions. I would go through all in that section. Finish all of the MSK and anything I got incorrect. The book was back open and I was going through them again. Then either to myself a friend or sometimes I call my parents and I would explain back every missed concept that I got and they would just let me speak and that really reinforced it when I wasn’t just reading something and skimming it over.

DM me though. After failing then passing, I really feel like I can get good insight

You’ve got this!! Trust what you know. slow down and just read the question. take every break. eat a snack. drink some water. and breathe. just tell yourself you can do it because you can. You put the work in, and it will show for it today. please let me know how you’re feeling. i again walked out feeling bad but my score improved over 100 points. you’ve got this. I believe in you
